Australia have won the toss and have opted to bat

Pat Cummins:
We gonna have a bat today. There's a bit of a grass like an old MCG wicket. It's been a great series so far. As a child in Australia when you wake up, you have a good night's sleep after Christmas, and you look forward to the first ball. Sam will open the batting and Scott also comes in for Hazlewood.

Rohit Sharma:
We would have batted as well. The series is 1-1, a lot to play for, it gives us a perfect opportunity to show what we are as a team. Whatever situation lies in front of you, you have to fight. It's a new day and we are looking forward to it. We have one change - GIll misses out and Washington comes in.(On whether he will bat at the top of the order?) Yes, I will.

b]Pitch Report | Mark Nicholas and Sunil Gavaskar[/b]:
The heavy roller is doing its bit on the surface. There's a lot of grass on the surface, day 1 pitch, there will be plenty in it for the bowlers. As the sun beats down, batting will become easier. 7mm grass on the surface, it might be slightly tacky at the start. The first couple of hours will be a real test for the batters. The conditions are really hot. 92,000 tickets have been sold and we can't wait to start

Sam Konstas is on strike.
Bumrah will open the attack

0.1
Bumrah to Sam Konstas, no run, pitched up outside off, swinging away. Sam Konstas lifts his bat and lets it go. Was on a driveable length but Sam Konstas didn't fiddle with it

Bumrah to Sam Konstas, 2 runs, first runs in international cricket for Sam Konstas! What a relief for Sam Konstas! Fullish ball swinging towards the pads, he flicks it through backward square leg and rushes back for the second ru

Bumrah to Sam Konstas, no run, peach! In the corridor of uncertainty, straightens a touch, Sam Konstas looks to keep it out from the crease but is beaten on the outside edge
2.5
Bumrah to Sam Konstas, no run, oh my word! The audactiy to try a reverse hit to arguably the best red-ball bowler in the world. On a good length around off, Sam Konstas reverses his stance and tries to hit it over the slip cordon but misses. Bumrah has a wry smile on his face

Siraj to Khawaja, no run, India review for a lbw. Khawaja the man in question. He was a fair way down the track. Rohit has a chat with Pant and decides to send it upstairs just before the timer runs out. Khawaja walked down the track to negate the inswing but played down the wrong line to get pinged on the pads. Umpire Michael Gough shook his head to the appeal. Time for the replays. Snicko shows a clear gap between bat and ball. The height is also an issue and it's going over the stumps. Good decision by the umpire. India lose a review

4.3
Bumrah to Sam Konstas, no run, this is not smart batting! Wider this time and on a fullish length, Konstas tries to reverse ramp it over the cordon but is far away from making contact

Siraj to Khawaja, 3 runs, shortish delivery well outside off, comes at a good height for Khawaja. He rolls his wrists on the pull and gets it through mid-wicket. Big boundaries out there and the filelder chases it down to save a run for his side

Siraj to Sam Konstas, no run, Sam Konstas once again tries something audacious! Doesn't look good when you don't execute it. Sam Konstas dances down the track to the in angling back of a length ball outside off and swipes at it but misses. The ball flies over the off-stump. Siraj has something to say to Sam Konstas

Bumrah to Sam Konstas, FOUR, the conventional scoop works for Sam Konstas! He shuffles across his stumps and gets one in the zone. He scoops it over the keeper to find the fence

Bumrah to Sam Konstas, SIX, and when it comes off, it looks worth in gold! That's what confidence can do to you. On a fullish length outside off again, Sam Konstas reverses his stance and hits it over the cordon to clear the fence behind. This is exhilirating stuff! He is certainly expressing himself out there, unfazed by the occasion

Bumrah to Sam Konstas, FOUR, unorthodox but highly effective! Sam Konstas once again moved across his stumps in a bid to go for the conventional scoop. But, the wider line meant that he had to change his thinking. He reverse hits it again over the slip cordon and the ball just bounces in front of the ropes before going over. It takes guts to take on the best bowler in the opposition
