See here to refresh de ole memory
In reply to Narper
yes but they're getting a beat down now. they haven't been in any dominant position in any of the next two tests and they conceded nearly 500 runs today. Gambhir's incompetence all over this India showing
In reply to Jumpstart
there is no yes but....can you erase it from de records because dem getting licks now?
OZ playing at home and are expected to dominate
474 and you think match done?
In reply to Narper
Jaiswal better make a big one or else they could following on
In reply to Narper
they came in as favorites. australia have not beaten india in 10 years and have not beaten them in 5 years at home.............and gambhir has virtually the same team, in fact he has the addition of a bumrah in better form that even the last two series. On the other hand, Siraj, who was exceptional on the last tour, can't buy a wicket and the batting has regressed by miles. this defeat and the whitewash has gambhir's name all over it. the longer the bcci takes to remove him, the worse the team will perform

In every sports organization, teams have periods. I would have liked the period to be West Indies.
Would it be like, after winning a test in Australia to show dominance in the following series?
Most fans seem now to know the struggles our team had after the 1960 tour to Australia, even with Sir Gary and Rohan, the team was not dominant

breds that was then....before any kind of tv analysis existed in cricket. After the 70s, what existed was the team with the best system would dominate. West indies had the best fitness regimen in the sport, played county cricket and were tempered by WSC and as a result we dominated. Pakistan around the same time ditto. Australia started their sports academies at a state level in the mid-late 80s and within a decade were top dog. Notice Australia has gone through transitional periods, like 2008-2013, but they have never gone into perpetual decline.
The indian pacers are younger than the aussie pacemen. starc and boland are 34 and 35 respectively. cummins is 31. teams go into decline, and especially in cricket, when players retire. india prior to gambhir drew a series in SA for only the second time, won a wt20 and finished runners up in a world cup.....they had not reached the final in the last two editions prior to that. all the problems started when gambhir came along.....the whitewash, this limp showing in australia

I was talking about it and have scars since the 1976 & 1980 Olympics.
Australia separated its ministry and sports, developing a sports ministry all by itself.
Hired coaches from around the world.
The first time I knew about video was my first ten golf lessons in 1990, I was given a VHS of my lessons, instructing me on all my areas to work on.

exactly. Australia does not play with sports. its a very serious business for them. and its either you conform or you're out, as shane warne found out. Cricket in australia had reached rock bottom in the mid 80s, thanks to rebels, retirements and the effect of years of beat downs by the west indies. And their government did something about it.
I don't believe india has as robust a system, in fact i know they don't because of people like privthi shaw and aakash chopra who've travelled outside and have been found wanting in quite embarrassing ways. but they had a great team that was very successful up until gautum took over.

If you look at the teams Sir Gary and Rohan captained before the Llyod era teams were just as bad as the teams today, even with two of the greatest.
After Hall's era, our pace bowling was nothing to speak about.
Individuals had great cricket careers, but the team were never great.
Everything went south after Malcolm retired, Lara or any of the captains since Llyod's teams were not dominant.
With cricket now a professional sport, we are still at the amateur level.
Our new CEO speaks about his school facilities; nothing has changed in 50 years

west indies had an exceptional pace attack after malcolm retired. ambrose, bishop and walsh were as good as any attack we've fielded. what we didn't have was a 4th paceman who could take five wickets consistently. the two benjamins were good but they were utility players....keep things tight but you didn't expect them to clean up a lineup

Oh, Sammy should be the coach.

Boland to Nitish Reddy, FOUR, hundred for Nitish Reddy. What a knock! His father is elated, he has tears in his eyes as he joins his hands and prays to the one above. Meanwhile, Reddy crosses over, kneels down, plants his bat and keeps his helmet on top. Yes, you have conquered the G' young man.

Narper…..firstly I am a Trinidadian…..not Guyanese like you so that immediately makes you more like Jeremy than myself, complete with the same unhinged ethnocentric approach to cricket……it not as extreme as Jeremy, but if definitely there. I said Brian Lara didn’t succeed against a poor India team in 1994 and yuh jump on yuh low horse, despite my providing of the stats which underpinned my argument: namely that the attack was weak, headed by an all rounder who was an opener, and a paceman in Srinath who only found his feat a few years later. That the leading wicket taker for the series was a spinner who never took a five for outside of India in tests and was discarded after 20 tests, very much unlike the great spinners like Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh, both of who were successful on multiple continents, that India found later in that decade. That Lara didn’t succeed against a weak team that relied on pitches more than actual bowlers to win or avoid defeat, that is no criticism of him except possibly that he was overconfident. Lara had already by December of 1994, conquered the best bowlers at that time at least once(only he and Sachin could boast of that by that time), in the case with Waqar and Wasim who were the quickest pacemen then, five or six times in one season. Everton Weekes did not conquer the best attacks of his day….which would have been Ray Lindwall, Kieth Miller, Typhoon Tyson, Ritchie Benaud etc.
If you had read my post instead of posting emotional drivel, you would have seen that NZ until Sir Richard Hadlee had only won seven test matches since their inception as a full ICC member in 1926. So Everton Weekes would not have played against a the highest quality NZ team.
I am not a very big supporter of India's cricket, instead, I just like Pakistani cricketers and their kind of mercurial game, they could really be exciting at times and other times just shockingly atrocious. In this India vs Aus test you cannot help but admire Reddy's innings of pure guts from a very desperate situation,if India save this test Reddy and Indian supporters won't forget easily,I won't either,I love heroic acts and this was one.

I think every west indian's second favorite team is Pakistan. They were excellent, almost unbeatable when on form....and woeful when they were not. The team that should have replaced the WI as world champs should have really been pakistan and i dare say they had a better team than us when both of us met in that 1993 title series. waqar, wasim, aaqib javed, inzimam ul haq, ijaz ahmed, moin khan, javed miandad, mushraq ahmed.....and they probably would have won if Imran Khan had decided to stay on for one last crack at the WI(part of his motivation for coming out of retirement was to beat the WI in a test series). WI had the best bowler in the world, Ambrose, the quickest bowler in the world, Bishop,Walsh, Dessie(who scored two hundreds in the 3 tests) and Lara(who scored 96 and 56 in the first two tests) and these were guys that had the champion mentality. That's the reason we won that series. Pakistan had a better assortment of players but the barely functioned as a team. The aristocratic, never say die captaincy of Imran just wasn't there and Waz was too young and too immature to handle the captaincy

Bumrah definitely with the “very flexible wrist movement” in delivery
Haha
It nuh dun yet, more twists to come. Will Lil Shiv redeem himself with the bat? He looks broken after the 3 drop catches. Will Kohli come good? Marsh is a farce...drop him next test
Allan you see wkts sharing? Reddy and Siraj in the mix
In reply to Brerzerk
Yes but the drop catches by Jaisal making this only 2 results now - win or draw ( Australia)

Day 4: 3rd Session - Australia lead by 277 runs

I don't see India making 300 plus runs on days 5.
This test will either drawn or India lose.
