I remember he got hit by a bouncer, and when he got to the other end he pushed McGrath.
Was there any disciplinary action against him then?

Didn’t Lara push McGrath during his 153

cricket wasn't a pansy game then....if two men had a dispute, they could feel free to settle it on the field without fear of repercussions. of course steve waugh's aussies took it too far and the icc reacted in kind.

I missed that, but I can just imagine what it was like with the (almost) diminutive BCL pushing the towering Aussie fast bowler McGrath.

Only remember Sarwan's incident.

nah...lara got hit by mcgrath during the 153, took a single, and then barged into mcgrath...Eddie Nicholls had to separate them. jimmy took another single and mcgrath bowled the same ball and was promptly pulled for four. only de lord himself was removing brian that day

icc trying to kill the contest. cricket is a contest between two people. if those two people are at the top of their game, with the weight of their countries on their shoulders, the tension must come out somehow. its not like they're throwing punches. viv was interviewed on an imran khan docu in the 90s and he said that he and imran were two gladiators in a ring and the only thing missing were the punches
Much ado about nothing
Konstas went up to Kohli at the end of the days play, apologized, and took a selfie with him
Morality police way out of control
Stop chatting nonsense.
Cricket is not a contact-sport.
Your fights should be with bat and ball, great fielding efforts etc.
The ICC(BCCI) is right to discipline men when then get out of control.
No room for cussing, obscene language or gestures etc.
Batsmen, let the bat do the talking.
Bowlers, let the ball do the talking.
Fielders, let your efforts in the field do the talking.
The ICC was too soft on Veerat, especially in comparison to Alzarrie recently.
Imaging not getting a stiffer penalty for physical contact as opposed to verbal.
Take the nationality, bias, and prejudice out of it.
Would you like it f someone bump into your child on a cricket field.
I sure would have a serious talk (or licks) with that person is it's my child.

This is not wrestling, American Football or Rugby.
You chatting chupidness.
There is no place for violence, verbally abusing someone with obscene words etc.
Taunting should not be with obscene words or gestures.
I played a cricket game in Barbados whilst on vacation.
I batted at #4 and was beaten with my first ball that I faced (also a new over).
The keeper shouted 'He can't bat, let get him out quick."
The next 5 balls included,
a late-cut 4,
a square driven 4,
a perfectly played defensive push that the bowler stopped.
a whip off the hip for 4, and a push-drive for 6 over extra-cover.
After each shot, I turned and look at the keeper, then proceeded to go down and tap the wicket.
The last shot was the 6 after which I held the pose and steered down the bowler.
At no time did I speak any words.
BTW: I was in my mid-fifties and the team were younger.
ICC should get harder on such actions.

isn't a bouncer a violent act? lillee and thommo and three generations of four horsemen regularly used it and rightfully so
i guess yuh didn't see this part

Watching the incident as it unfolded, I thought Konstas was the one who initiated the contact.
I even posted my thoughts on the Wagon thread, only to find out later that everyone else saw things differently.

This kid certainly has 'gumption'.
Don't think I like that impasse between him and Kohli though. Looks like he's the one who made the (deliberate) contact.

i thought so as well

Sir Everton told me he missed a card game during a test match in Australia. The next day, while batting, he received a vicious snorter during the bowler's follow-through. He heard that this was a consequence of not showing up for the card game.
I also witnessed Charlie bouncing Goot Proverbs, who is a big guy. During one over, Goot walked down the wicket, threatening Charlie while waving his bat. Two balls later, Goot found himself on the ground and walked off the field.
As you read the reaction from some, you will see Trump-like responses to killing people and getting away with it.
A batsman should never use his hands or body on an opponent a bat is for hitting the ball.

He was in the area batsmen are supposed to be.
"I was just trying to get in the contest and whoever I was facing, just trying to bring the best version of myself. Obviously, it got heated at times, which was good for me. Just feel like that brings the best out of me."
Konstas thought Kohli bumping into him was an accident

A bouncer is a legal delivery; a bowler can bowl two per over.
We were delighted when our 4-sprong was unsettling batsman by bowling bouncers.
In reply to openning
exactly.....so too were the aussies when lillee and thommo were trying to hurt people(by their own admission)

Are you equating bowling a bouncer to striking someone with your hands or any part of your body?
I specifically stated that players should let the bat and ball do the talking.
I got hit on my forehead from a bouncer in a game.
The players shouted for ice and some came out.
I tough it out and continues batting.
A few overs later, I got hit on the face from a glove deflection.
The players shouted to bring ice, and I responded, no ice, bring my helmet.
The pacer (he was quick) came to me and ask me if I was ok.
My response to him was to bowl short again is he dared.
He responded with a short ball which I hooked out of the ground.
After that, I tapped the wicket and stared him down. (Not a word).
Next ball, he pitched up and I drove it pass him for 4 and held the pose for about a minute.
That was the end of the over, and I made 72 that day, opening.
Real players let the bat and ball do the talking.
I believe in taunting, but not with obscene words or gestures.

That’s where I am on this. No place for physical contact- especially the premeditated type.
