India wasn't a world class team when lara toured india. their attack was spearheaded by Manoj Prabhakar and srinath. Lara had just come off scoring 5 hundreds in the 93/94 season off waqar, wasim and donald.....then faced england, scored a world record, a hundred and two fifties. then went to county cricket and scored 7 hundreds in 8 innings(including a world record) and against attacks much better than india's. they won games at home because they prepared poor wickets. Proof of this is that India's top wicket taker for that series, never took a five for outside of india. His bowling averages outside of india read 48.67 in AUS,76.00 in england,30.00 in NZ, 60.50 in SA and 60.50 in SL who were minnows. His story reads very similar to Narendra Hirwani who took 16 wickets on an underprepared Chennai wicket vs the WI in 1987, and then averaged over 50 in every other country he toured. india then is certainly not the india now

firstly, the difference is australia was the best team of weekes' era, with the best bowling......india was far from the best team of lara's era and certainly were not even close to that the one time lara visited the country. dais like arguing Kareem abdul jabbar didn't dominate the celtics but he sured showed the clippers(this is a hypothetical situation so don't argue semantics)

lara scored hundreds against india in two series(one a match saving hand in st lucia against possibly the best indian attack to tour the WI up until that point). he didn't score in in 2002 because he was 3 months on from a broken hand that ended his unprecedented SL tour short.....and sri lanka had a much better attack

You cannot pick and choose areas for your argument, without detailing both strengths and weaknesses of the two teams.
India was spin-oriented while the Aussie was always pace.

Jumpstart is a student of cricket he reads a lot. Jumpstart's problem is he twists history to make Lara and the tits wholesome masters of the sport. He distorts facts to ensure Bim looks weak and incompetent. The fact Barbados is the birthplace of WI cricket and home to many of the sport's greatest players is downplayed by Jumpy. Jumpy is a revisionist for that he should be ashamed.

Here is the facts, Weekes was adjust the best batsman of his era,Lara was adjust the best of his era.
Jumpy and many here try to dis credit Weekes. Weekes took apart all the pace bowlers in his era.
