I assume the only reason why K.Roach is being pushed along, still playing tests is to allow him 300 tests wickets. What a lucky cricketer,so far he's played 84 tests and 282 wickets. There's no good reason to send a dead horse to Pakistan,it would have been better to send a young pacer to gain experience, this type of prejudicial treatment has gone on for some years now.I am not comparing him with anybody but Bumrah has played 44 tests and got 200 wickets.
Why do we keep picking slow coach Roach.

Kemar Roach...
In reply to granite
You’re saying this based on the fact that everyone is available?
Roach is a poor man’s Jimmy Anderson.
Guess we should pick Bumrah, then.
Roach needs 18 more to reach 300 and we Caribbean peeps love records,9 moe tests and he could get that 300,then him gine retire. We nah go pick Bumrah if him even barn ere,he's a pelter.

The idea is to win Test matches, or is it to give inexperienced and unprepared guys a chance?
In reply to granite
As India is not expected to drop their best bowler, West Indies is not expected to drop their best too.
In reply to Halliwell
If you are suggesting Roach has been a Test match-winning bowler away from home against a decent team, kindly refresh my memory of the last time he accomplished such a feat.
For the record, I am ambivalent as to who is selected, however, I am quite curious about your post.....................
In reply to JoeGrine
I didn’t say he was a ‘test match winning bowler 1 away from home and 2 against a decent team’
That’s really cutting the stats now
Roach’s value is in taking wickets and guiding the younger guys. This is the closest thing we have to Macco right now!
Who should Shamar and Jayden listen to? Sammy? Franklin? Rawle??
The cupboard is bare! We should beg him to play another 10 years the state we are in!
Roach took a 2nd innings 5 wicket haul against South Africa in 2023 and we still lost the match chasing less than 250.
West Indies' problems are not one dimensional.
Hopefully I will see another West Indies bowler pass 200 Test wickets in my lifetime - just maybe.
Roach is still performing why discard him? While some of the others go off to make money, he stays available for the WI
In reply to dayne
Where can he go? What are the options he's declining? I am curious to know
In reply to nissan
Not sure that we are playing enough Tests to see that materialize.
Who won the under 20 boys Javelin at this year's Carifta Games. Is he available?
In reply to granite
They picked narine
In reply to granite
In the last test series Roach had 9 wickets, one less than Seales, same as Alzharri and more than Shamar
Roach had a better strike rate than Jayden Alzharri and Shamar
Roach had a better bowling average than the two Joseph's

This is the Rum shop, inebriated people are welcomed to post.
I am all for giving youth a try but I am yet to be convinced that we have any bowlers, fast or slow, that have the potential to set the world on fire. They all lack basic technique but more importantly, the desire to make the sacrifices and put in the hard work required to succeed at the highest level. Recently social media has been featuring videos of the sacrifices and hard work it took to succeed from Usain Bolt and Julien Alfred. In the past we have seen the stories of Virat Kholi and Shive Chanderpaul.
Roach has an important role to play as senior bowler and mentor. Leave him be.
Roach has many detractors calling for his head over the past years, but continue to promote players whose numbers are similar to bingo.
In reply to granite
So why bring up Bumrah?
At the moment, until Alzarri and/or Shamar show that they can replace him permanently then Roach stays in the squad. He can play a squad member role for maybe another 12-18 months.

Why would West Indies drop Jayden Seales?
Marquino Junior Mindley first, or Dominic Drakes could have been given a chance to tour or even play in the tests.
Kemar Roach in discussions with CWI over dual player/coach role
In reply to Besar
Roach is not the best bowler, way beyond his best years. Due to the current circumstances, he’s the best option, to spearhead the fast bowling attack.

Drakes...nah. Mindley I have not seen enough of
What's his record away, especially in Pakistan?
In reply to granite
Lol. You are funny. Drakes cant even hold down a spot in a Barbados PCL team.
In reply to Logic
That is up to their selectors, just like the idiots in TT who refused to play their best batsman Amir Jangoo,he was selected by LI and then Jam Scorpions.Drakes was a selection by the IPL as a "net bowler".I would still go for M.Mindley
In reply to granite
you saw Mindley in Aussieland ?

The world knows Kemar Roach's career is ending. Can you show all the Pacers who played with him their home and away records?
In reply to openning
Google is yuh friend
In reply to granite
Amir Jangoo FC 35 62 6 1909 218 34.08 3848 49.61 1 12
If he is the best batsman in T&T, your standard is below the T&T selectors'. This player has one ton to his name: fifty every five innings with an FC average of 34.08. Give me a break.
Check this 21-year-old player; FC 14 21 1 818 139 40.90 1292 63.31 3 2
Why was Jangoo selected ahead of him?
In reply to imusic
I don't have to check Google, Kemar Roach is the best since Ambrose and Walsh.
It is not like we have 4 to 5 pacers that are performing to force his retirement.
In reply to openning
What does Kemar Roach being the best WI fast bowler since Ambrose and Walsh retired a quarter of a century ago have to do with Roach still being selected to the WI test team in 2025?
In reply to openning
Which would suggest?
In reply to imusic
It is not like we have 2 to 3 pacers that are performing to force his retirement.
Pacers selected
Jayden Seales career is in its infancy
Anderson Phillip ????, lucky to make an international team
Justin Greaves, that selection of a test bowler, tells the story of how bad the system is.
In reply to openning
His record looks like the great Yagga away from Sabina or the Oval.
In reply to tc1
Reading several posts, it seems that CWI has been winning several tours and producing several good international players.
We have not produced a great spinner since Lance Gibbs, a great fast bowler since Ambrose, a great middle-order batsman since Shiv, or a great opener since Gayle.
Kemar Roach figures tell the world he has been our best since Ambrose and Walsh.
He should be able to retire in peace.
In reply to openning
Kemar has done well, especially since he lost his pace.
I agree with you that he should retire soon.
In reply to tc1
A few things:
1 - openning never said that Kemar should retire soon.
2 - everyone knows the only reasons he continues to be selected is so that he can try to get 300 test wickets. He’s currently at 282
WEST INDIES FUTURE TOURS
West Indies are scheduled to play 8 test matches in 2025 and 7 test matches in 2026
At this rate, we will be seeing Kemar Roach still playing tests for West Indies in 2027 until MAYBE he accomplishes his goal
In reply to imusic
My gut feeling is that he hang up this year.
In reply to tc1
We’ll see.
Whenever he does, it will be a stellar career in service of WI cricket
