lollollol. So Smith is the chairman of the SAT20. the guys on sky asked him about SA's first series in the current wtc cycle, where they sent a 2nd string team to nz. Smith said he wasn't comfortable with it, but in order for the tourney to be viable, they needed the best players playing and dum dum dum....drawing crowds and viewership. And CSA virtually said if the SA T20 is not a success, then they can't pay for the test summer, so they need the star players in the tournament

if the problem is money as Smith says, the solution is that ICC provides funding to all test playing countries for 3 match series and there is a proper test cycle where all teams get to play the same number of official tests. If countries want 5 match series, they pay for the extra themselves on a unilateral or bilateral basis but those tests do not count as official tests. Teams should also be allowed to play any number of unofficial tests they want once they fund themselves.

Poor Clive. Still living in the past. As are many here, most of whom are oldies living in the diaspora. West indies cricket is dead, killed by brainless, dishonest, insular and vindictive little men who own and run West Indies cricket.
I am always amazed to read some of these comments. West Indies cricket is owned by a group of small minded individuals in a private company called Cricket West Indies. It is used for their egos and benefits. The people of the West Indies have NO stake and NO say.
And the youth of the West Indies have spoken loud and clear. They have no interest in the game.
There is still some interest in T20 only because it is a party and for no other reason. And that too will soon die as our T20 stars age and retire. Bravo, Gayle & Pollard have already retired. Narine and Dre Russ probably have one more year. The only real star who will be left is Pooran. And there is no one on the West Indian horizon who is capable of setting the world alight in any format, now or in the future.
So stop living in the past and face reality.
