Annexation of Canada, no more laughing matter

When Elon Musk junior partner in company with Trudeau laughed about Canada becoming the 51st state of US, we all laughed at the usual Trump trolling. However, it’s no longer a laughing matter when Trump is suggesting using economic power to annex Canada, according to him, the country has little or no military and would be be more advantageous in becoming a US state.

The lack of a strong military force and total dependence on US military can be a major Canadian weakness. I remember when I was a child growing up in Jamaica, my hometown used to host many naval vessels from various countries. The very first aircraft carrier that I had ever toured was a Canadian Aircraft carrier which has been decommissioned years ago without replacement.

Canadians have no intentions of becoming a US state, especially when they consider an extremely poor city of Buffalo just next to them. No Canadians would want to lose their Universal Healthcare; no Canadian woman wants to lose one year off from work with pay, when having their babies; no Canadian would want to lower their standard of living and quality of life lowered to that of US.

When is the next doctor's report due for Trump's mental health check-up?

Asking for a friend who can't stop laughing.

I think his psych evaluation and mental health check up are now over 4 years overdue, he is getting more and more bizarre and unhinged.

War of 1812, Canada moved the capital to Ottawa, US couldn’t find it. Many of you would be surprised that Canada actually won the war against US.

In fact, American armies invaded Canada in 1812 at three points, but all three campaigns ended in failure. One army surrendered at Detroit at the western end of Lake Erie, a second army surrendered at Queenston Heights at the other end of the lake, and a third army withdrew after little more than a skirmish north of New York.

The peace treaty of Ghent, which ended the war, largely returned the status quo. However, in Canada, the war contributed to a growing sense of national identity, including the idea that civilian soldiers were largely responsible for repelling the American invaders.

They’d love to have it until they find out what else comes with it. My sisters ( Born Canadians who returned as adults) will have none of that.

I live in Canada with a US passport only because I lived in US before relocating to Canada. However, I have not seen any overwhelming evidence of Canadians desiring US passports. No need for that when they can visit or stay in US for up to 6 months and still maintain their higher quality of life in Canada. Many might see your statement as an insult to them.
