Shamar Joseph playing T20 instead….

….of playing Test cricket for WI

Just one year ago this guy sat at a press conference in Australia and talked about his dedication to play for WI Test team.
Now he’s listed to play today for Durban Super Giants in SA T20 league.
I really liked this kid but this behavior/decision again demonstrates the trouble WI cricket has faced
He should really be called out for this decision
What a shame
He has no shame

Why does playing in the SA T20 preclude playing for the national team? This tournament ends about the same time the first class season starts in the Caribbean, doesn't it?

Smh... Shamar is at home recovering from injury.

Plus nothing is wrong with playing T20s instead of test cricket for WI. Others did it before, the big names are doing it now so why should it be different for Shamar?

Make your money Shamar... you got nothing to gain from CWI.. I am sure if he gets a serious injury they will most likely leave him on his own.

It is you who have no shame.

First, check your facts, as Shamar was left out of the Paks tour because of injures.

Second: Have you or any of your relatives left their home to attain better employment opportunities?
I don't know who you are, except for the dribble that you post.
But, a man/woman who criticizes another for bettering themselves,
needs to take a good look in the mirror.
I wonder what you see in the mirror.

As I believe that you are short on intellect,
look in the mirror is an allegory for taking a look at your character.

De Merle.

Nothing wrong with playing T20 cricket for now
What’s wrong is sitting at an international press conference and pledging allegiance to WI cricket over T20 and within a year flipping

Is he really injured?
On instagram he posted a photo of he and his SA team at a New Year’s Eve party.
Also, take a look at cricinfo and the squad listed for the super Giants team for today’s game.
Must be a different Shamar Joseph.

That's an edited picture champ. You could clearly see they photoshopped his head on to someone's body lol

In the comments you will see Shamar wished them happy new year and the team responded by saying they can't wait to see him.

Around that time I think Shamar was getting married.

Ok, got it.

So perhaps he is injured, the squad list is old but he was supposed to play one game for Super Giants this week then join the WI test team next week.

Okey dokey

this sort of thinking will kill the concept of the west indies

west indies cricket is beyond just a job and sport

its a true rebel to the institution, many countries under one banner with an anthem you can dance to and a style like no other

that sort of thing can only exist on belief not practicality

It's a competitive world... CWI does not have the resources to compete with these leagues.

Modern day players are trying to maximize their earnings so they could enjoy life after retirement. You would do the same if you were in their position.

You think pride gonna put food on de table when they retire? CWI don't even look after players when they get injured....

If he's playing a few T/20s as part of his recovery then that should be fine, hopefully he plays in the Regional 4-day as part of that recovery as well.

Asking him to bowl a lot of overs per innings in what is probably a dust bowl against Pakistan probably isn't a good idea.

then let west indies die and dont complain when it does
and when it dies be happy that no body else can eat b/c all the development the cricket did for these players meant nothing for future generations

pride is required to allow west indies to survive

yall dont plant enough trees

Yup.

Without West Indies cricket there is no international exposure to prospective T20 leagues for any WI players.

Maybe the CPL will become a top league and IPL teams will pick players based on their CPL performance.
Lol
It’s really not that difficult to understand.

How many uncapped WI players are in the IPL?
WI cricket dies, all of their futures die.

I am not going to question Anansi’s intellect because I think he is a doctor and so at least average intellect is present. That said, can one really expect anyone to forgo making a few extra dollars.

Shamar is committed to WI cricket, but he is not committed to the extent he is stupid.
