Redwood replaces Mansing, Bonner dropped
My Bonner went over the mountain...My Bonner went over the sea...My Bonner went over the ocean ...Oh bring back my bonner to me... Bring back...Bring back...
In reply to voiceofreason
Allegedly: Bonner left Jamaica to play "Curry-Goat" Cricket in America,
after he had been asked to remain in Jamaica.
This situation led to his exclusion from the 50 overs Squad ...
I am not certain if this action is related to that breakdown in communication.
It appears to be OVER.
Hope this Redwood better than Blackwood .....
In reply to Kay
Redwood is an 18-year-old leg spinner.
Mansingh was a good man (but he doesn't get wickets regularly).
He does bat a bit but does not score centuries.
Jamaica needs an attacking spinner in order to limit the runs we must chase.
Jamaica has Marquino Mindley as a fast bowler.
We need at least one more threatening fast bowler.
One of the contenders is FAST & FOOLISH ...
And the other one, Gordon Bryan, is coming back off injury.
In reply to Kay
If the fast and foolish bowler could bowl a steady fourth-stump line ...
with a few inswingers ... a few outswingers ... and an occasional straight ball, he would be a WI candidate ...
But once the fast ... all they do is bowl SHORT - fih try fih lick-down batsman. He reminds me of Leverage.
Mih nuh feel say him head too good doh.
I cannot understand how any cricketer could WASTE such a WONDERFUL talent.
In reply to Kay
Jamaica is the land of Woods and water.
In reply to Yadi
Yuh talking about some simple instructions, surely O'Shane Thomas could understand those simple words, don't anyone of interest talk to the fella,we are wasting a great potential.I still hope that he comes good.
So, was Shields selected? He seems to be an economical consistent bowler, Mansingh seems to be an average player, his batting and bowling looks ordinary. Hopefully, young Johnson shows what he learned from the India coaching sessions he just returned from.
Let me guess.. they didn't select Jordan Johnson once again... don't know why Jamaica retained him. They should have allowed the youth to go to the WI Academy
In reply to granite
Thomas is very valuable asset....went astray.... overweight,unfit....and most unfortunately... Unguided...
His run-up....leap near bowling crease...rare...
He is real match winner....just needs proper overall makeover.... technical and physical...
CWI and Jamaica set up.... as usual.... failed in its basic function...

Oshane lacks discipline and will-power, he has been around long enough to know what he has to do to be an effective player. That incident last week in which 15 runs was score off of one legal ball says a lot about Oshane, he is a slow thinker.
In reply to dayne
Most express fast bowlers barring few like Marshall , Imran are slow thinkers or no thinkers at all........
Patrick Patterson was one big no thinker...but was guided by Marshall....
With CWI mulling Roach as mentor....hope, he can be good help for young fast bowlers
Layne
Isai & few others..
In reply to Yadi
What's the team? Any new faces? Link please.
In reply to Yadi
I touted Mansingh as best I could to get him over the line for he looked promising when he just started but has not lived up to my expectations. He is young I hope that he can wheel and come again!!
Johnson is expected in the 4-day squad.

Jamaica Scorpions: Team = John Campbell, Carlos Brown, Kirk McKenzie, Jermaine Blackwood, Brad Barnes, Romaine Morris, Odean Smith, Jeavor Royal,
Gordon Bryan, Markuino Mindley, Tamarie Redwood.
Reserves: Javelle Glen, Ojay Shields.

In reply to Yadi
Good...that Odean Smith part of red ball....He can develop into very good all rounder...
Thomas playing BPL.... accomodated or dropped???
Ojay Shieds reserve !!!
Many international hopefuls...
Good team...
In reply to Onionman0
I am surprise to see OShields as a reserve. No Johnson? Just stupid to keep Johson out.
In reply to buds
All the players who went to India for training.....has been named in their respective squad..only Johnson.... waiting for squad announcement of Academy and CC...
In reply to Onionman0
Everybody is back from India a while now... based on the Jamaica cricket tik tok page, Johnson scored 49 in one of the trial matches.
I knew they wouldn't pick him.. which is why I was saying that they should have allowed him to join the WI Academy.
Since he is contracted by Jamaica I don't think he could turn out for another team.. when he represented CCC in the super50 he wasn't a Jamaica contracted player.
In reply to anthonyp
Why there is no updates about selection and non selection of players by the teams....
Poor.....CWI should make it mandatory for teams to announce squad and updates...
In reply to granite
oshane was excellent with pollard and simmons as captain......but they chased them out and WI continue their bajan led descent into cricketing oblivion
In reply to Yadi
Yad. Does the suspension of John Campbell extend with the regional 4 day competition? Any clarity of this situation?
In reply to buds
No.
They treat 50 overs cricket as a separate entity.
In reply to Onionman0
So, you nuh RATE mih?
You nuh see say mih ah gih updates ... and
facilitate a discussion thread?
[b]In reply to Yadi
Good news for JC. The admin was wrong on the suspension. Pure nonsense and hubris.
In reply to Kay
Alternative combination & batting order:
1.) Carlos brown
2.) Romain Morris
3.) Kirk McKenzie
4.) Jermaine Blackwood
5.) John Campbell
6.) Javelle Glen
7.) Odean Smith
8.) Brad Barnes
9.) Javor Royal
10) Gordon Bryan
11) Marquino Mindley.
In reply to Yadi
I think RMorris is wasted too far down the order. He should bat higher. Maybe 5.

Stupidest cricketing post I ever read! Constantine, Martingale, Hall, Holding, Garner, Walsh, Bishop, Ambrose, Kenny B, Croft, Lester King, Roach, Gray; not thinkers

Do you understand the word ERA?

Cricket has EVOLVED.
And the MODERN TECHNIQUE employed by the TOP Fast Bowlers Today:
Anderson, Bumrah, Seales, Roach, Cummings, Hazelwood ... Stark etc.
is the one that I described in my previous post.

So, you think I am stupid?
Do you know who I am?
