Was watching. Sloane has lost her fight. Looks like Opelka’s back is now healed.
Sisipas gaan .... me belly!!!

LOL
Biggest shock yet
Basavareddy just took Set 1 from Djoka
Early days but dis kid can play. Both his parents are from India.
In reply to Kay
But Gauff and Tiafoe won their first round matches....
Djoka takes set 2.
Nikesh has serious cramps. Ah wah dis kid?
Naomi wins
In reply to Chrissy
Osaka beat Garcia in three sets.
Revenge for last year?
Five-set wins for Monfils and Medvedev today.
Also advancing to the second round were Shelton, Rybakina and Keys.
Fonseca will be the best Brazilian ever. Tek dat to the bank. He is only eighteen
I was expecting Mpetshi Perricard to make a deep run but the other French man 38 year old Monfils got the better of him in a tight one ....
Osaka had a good three-sets win over the seeded Muchova.
Gauff's service problems returning in her second round match.
Not convincing, but Gauff still won in straight sets.
I thought Monfils had retired last USA Open. However, many new faces are coming on the scene, it is the start of a new era.
Saw the Swiatek match (in person I might add, blessed I am) and I will say, if she gets her first serves right, she will be tough to keep from the title. Aussie Alex de Minaur has a big service but he strikes me as a touch above ordinary.
In reply to dayne
Monfils won again, and advanced to the third round at the grand old age of 38....
Also winning today were Jabeur and Shelton.
In reply to mikesiva
Naomi is on her way back. The breakup may have helped
In reply to JoeGrine
You're in Melbourne? That must have been a great experience.
Paolini, Keys and Rybakina won their second round matches, but Tiafoe goes out. Medvedev lost the first two sets to Californian qualifier Tien.
In reply to mikesiva
Yes, I am. Tiafore is a bag of talent but....
Tiafoe is the present-day James Blake, good talented fighting player, but it seems he just does not have enough to win a major tournament
Well done Learner- win or lose
Unbelievable tennis for a just19 year old
Learner got him .... well done youth!!!
In reply to Kay
Nice match.
Sadly those five sets if more than five hours will hurt his chances to go much further.
He clearly has a future. I thought Meddy had it after he won Sets 3 and 4 - good fight.
In reply to Chrissy
Alcaraz and Sabalenka advance, but Osaka retires injured.
Gauff vs Fernandez up next.
A convincing win for Gauff, at four and two, to go through to the fourth round.
What was that with Pegula. Looks like a tame surrender for the #7 seed ....
In reply to Kay
Talk about tame surrenders, Raducanu was thrashed at one and love by Swiatek...the Great British hope goes out.
All fours for Monfils, who advanced to the fourth round by beating fourth seed Fritz in four sets, but his other half Svitolina has lost the first set to Paolini.
Eighth seed Navarro beat Jabeur in three sets, while Rybakina also won her third round match. Shelton and Tien also moved into Round Four.
In reply to Chrissy
Gauff needed three sets to beat Bencic in their fourth round match, while among those also advancing to the quarter-finals were Sabalenka, Alcaraz, Djokovic and Zverev.
In reply to mikesiva
Glad she got a three sets match. She’s getting better by the day.
Go Coco and Carlos
Alyuh see the ease with which Sabalenka and especially Iga is winning?
In reply to Kay
I haven't been able to watch a single Swiatek match in its entirety, because of the time difference...I only just switched in time to see the end-stages her destruction of a German lucky loser.
Keys had a big three-set win over Rybakina to reach the quarter finals. Also advancing from the fourth round was Svitolina, but her veteran beau Monfils had to retire after a bruising match with Shelton, including three tiebreakers.
In reply to mikesiva
Swiatek will be hard to beat once her first serve is on. Just the same, hoping Coco can pull it off.
In reply to JoeGrine
It was a bad day for the Americans on Inauguration Day....
Badosa beat Gauff and Zverev defeated Paul to advance to the semi-finals.
Sabalenka had a hard-fought three-set win over Pavyluchenkova in her quarter-final.
Djoka takes a medical,time,out.
Is it real, or has he seen the writing on di wall.
Go Carlos.
All gamesmanship with this creep
Djokovic into the semis.
Would be so ironic, if he does, for him to get to Title #25 in Melbourne.
Zee greatest.
Nicely done Ben.
Good work Maddie,
In reply to Chrissy
Yeah, Keys and Swiatek won their quarter-final matches, and will face each other in the semis.
That match between Shelton and Sonego was a joy to watch. Both players came to the net and volleyed on a regular basis. It almost reminded me of the days of Becker, Edberg, Sampras and McEnroe.
In reply to mikesiva
Nice match fi true
Leh we go Akex
Murda by Sabalenka.
In reply to Chrissy
Sabalenka recovered from a shaky start to crush Badosa in straight sets to reach the final.
The second semi-final is a strange one.
Swiatek led 5-2, Keys came back to 5-5, and then the Pole won 7-5. In the second set, the American blew Swiatek out of the water, winning 6-1.
On to the final set....
Maddie wins Set 2. 6-1
Impressive
Maddie wins. Her second slam final in 7 yeRs
Massive win dat Maddie
In reply to Chrissy
Congrats to Maddie! She’s finally found the Keys to success!
In reply to Chrissy
Looks like the winner took a lot out of Djokovic. In his semi-final, the Serb retired hurt after losing the first set tiebreaker to Zverev.
These gruelling five sets causing more and more injuries these days.
In reply to mikesiva
For those looking for the next black great, that nugget is not to be found in Coco. It is just not there. Good player but not a great. The wait continues for the next semi-Serena.
In reply to JoeGrine
The women's final is off to an interesting start.
Keys took the first set 6-3 against defending champion and top seed Sabalenka.
Madison Keys ! Yesssss!
Congratulations! You finally did it!
I have never seen Madison play so consistently well in any tournament.
What a performance to win her first Grand Slam at 30 years of age. If she continues to play this well during this year she could add a few more.
Congrats Maddy
In reply to mikesiva
Keys to success! Congratulations Madison. I was rooting for her…
Both Keys and Coco won their first slam against Sabalenka…
In reply to FanAttick
So happy for Maddie. She beat the best of them.

And then some
Sinner's victory was Europe's 60th consecutive male Grand Slam victory, since del Potro's US Open in 2009. If I'm not mistaken, it's also the 143rd consecutive male victory for people of pallor, dating back to Chang's winning the 1989 French Open.
