number 3 is for yr best batsman

Nonsense. I don't recall Sobers being a fixture at #3, S. Smith (AUS), Kohli etc.
3-5 but #3 is not reserved for anyone.

Looks like u been around a while and you think there's no system for batting order? Just whoever the skipper and the coach like? Sobers was a middle order, a bowler who became a batsman, pretty much same for Smith. Kohli may have just been a number 4. Number 3 is normally the most skillful in both defense and attack, able to come in after the fall of an early wicket if necessary, able to deal with the new ball and can bat deep

In the early days of Viv Richards Test career he opened the batting against Lillee and Thompson in Australia, so he was not sheltered like some people are asking for Jangoo to be sheltered.

I heard a commentator said the #3 batsman is the footballer back in the day with #10 on his back, the star baller.
#3 is the guy who might have to go out there after the first ball been bowled.
The one who may need to steady the innings after an early wicket or capable to put the opposition to the sword of the opportunity arrives. if the openers built a steady platform to launch from he should have the shots to damage their opponents.
So with that in mind would you debut a batsman in that position in a game overseas on a seriously tailored bowler's wicket ?

Anxiety attack alone can make you lose your wicket cheaply on debut batting @ #3. If the team your repping bats first.

Very few would survive this wicket far less a debutant.

Trial by ordeal that for the young nan

Its not about sheltering Jangoo, its just about commonsense, but as previously noted elsewhere on this board, that factor is missing. You would want to maximize the potential and impact of your players.
I would add also that on this board in recent times many topics are perceived to be insular and eventually leads to racially charged arguments, such as the Rutherford issue. Disappointing. Its cricket we supposed to be talking about.

Very confident player of spin. Positive intent shown with his use of the sweep.

Jangoo was the best choice for #3. Batting early gives you less chance to be nervous. Moreover, he is talented and fearless.
