That economic-speak goes way above my head.
But, for better, probably for worse, Trump is trying to force economic changes in just a few months that would normally take generations otherwise.

Very very good read.
I am reminded somewhat of similar piece written in 60s but had to to with the
American Empire since the fall of the British after WWII . That explored the
reasons for the action of Japan against the USA with it's attack on Pearl Harbour in that War as
Trade disagreement was one pivotal reason.
Mr Hudson's piece is so much more far reaching in the context of the Present which could not be
seen 70 years ago. IT SHOULD BE REQUIRED STUDY by the young ones as there is much to be gleaned as
mention is still being made of the Germany, the arch antagonist of WWII.
Germany from all prophecies I have read, is set to RISE again. I take this seriously as a believer in the
GOOD Book and Europe along with the Eastern lands ,Russia,China,India and Japan are set to play
a most significant role.
When conflict arises and where money and survival are keys among united counties,it is a time
to take heed as very little good will result. We are indeed on the doorsteps of chaos on the
international scale with someone like Trump in full charge of America.
As we say in Jamaica, take sleep mark death.
America rebuilt Europe and the World, every country became it's footstool and still do as the owner
of the world's Reserve Currency it has no boundaries in what it can exact on any country in the world.
Now that it has a Resident rogue as president who has been given all powers by the world's most meaningful court,
SCOTUS, the world is now in a most unsettled state. Imagine picking on your closest neighbors and partners
Mexico and Canada.
Perilous times could be ahead and with the RISING power of China...the AI development this week should be a warning to USA
as China is the most dangerous enemy the USA will ever have. Could be that when USA goes back to the moon, they
will be greeted by the Chinese there...Just saying.
The fact that BRICS has not found unity to challenge the LONESTAR power of the USA, is what is delaying forthcoming
and more terrible times.
As of now, the rest of the world remains, the 51st State..Not for long as the End of this Age is upon us if one is
to discern correctly the sign of the Times. We are in for a rocky ride ,all of us is the reign of Trump smile
I plan to enjoy it anyhow as long as I am vertical.lol

The problem with that article is its underlying assumption that Trump knows what he is doing - the assumption that Trump is following a well planned and thought out economic strategy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Trump will backpedal in a heartbeat when faced with the negative domestic consequences of this actions or if he received a hefty bribe from a foreign country. And there is also the possibility that Trump will be reigned in by Congress in 2 years if it gets that far.

This right here.

The Dotard wants to reduce the U.S. trade deficit by forcing manufacturers back to America, but he also wants to keep the American dollar high. You can't have both. Americans are not going to buy an iPhone for $5000.00 just because it's made in the USA and other countries will not import American made goods with a high value currency.

Indeed its also assuming that this Trump policy is in fact some kind of universal strategic US policy endorsed by business leaders etc. The only people who believe what Trump is doing is some kind of organized genius economic strategy is his MAGA Maggots, Project 2025 backed up by Christian Evangelicals. The GOP knows he is ridiculous but willing to acquiescence because it supposedly allows them to hang unto power, which will also be their very demise.

And in the end it is all a smoke screen, a deception, decoy for his robber baron billionaires raiding the treasury.

The Dotard's voter base reads at the grade 3 level.

So when the Dotard promises them that he will bully the world into bringing back Murica manufacturing jobs through tariffs, they lap it up like he's some kind of genius economist who's playing chess and everyone else is playing checkers.

One of the things you heard repeatedly from Trump apologists leading up to the election was that he was using the threat of tariffs as a negotiating strategy. But apparently Trump still thinks tariffs are paid by the exporter or country of origin instead of the domestic American importer. He even promised to create another government agency to collect the tariffs from these foreign countries. How can one strategize against such utter ignorance or "dotardness"?

Well one thing is now abundantly clear. No nation can trust the U.S. as a trading partner and any agreements or treatise they enter into will not be worth the paper it's written on.

How can any sane nation trust a country to be an ally and good faith trading partner which will elect a rank ignoramus every 4 years or so?

I'm still waiting for one of our resident dotards to explain to the rest of us how the Dotard intends to reduce the U.S. trade deficit (by bringing back American manufacturing through the imposition of trade tariffs) and keeping the U.S. dollar high at the same time.

So far it's just radio silence from dotard nation.

The man created a heap of uncertainty renegotiating NAFTA agreement using mob tactics in his last administration and he must have done a really poor job on it since he now return 4 years later using the same bs again. Why would you need to renegotiate a multilateral agreement a mere 4 years later if you did such a wonderful job the first time around. So you r right, any agreement with this dufus is not worth the sharpie and paper its written on, as its just for show. That's why I maintain Dotard is running the government as a big coverup for the thievery he and his billionaires are about to undertake and that Crypto currency crap will be the ultimate end of it all.

100%

I've stated the same thing on other threads. Him and his cadre of billionaires/oligarchs are going to loot the treasury and engorge themselves with government money and contracts. And the lame ass Democrats will just sit by and do nothing.
