The US forgets that Canada and Mexico are its primary sources of oil. Canada produces its lumber. Canada exports more to the US than Canada buys from the US. Mexican and other immigrants essentially keep US agricultural and agroprocessing industries going. They are the backbone of housekeeping in hotels etc.

The approach taken now is combining techno feudalism and pseudo nationalism influenced by one denominator that built the United States.

Unbridled and unchecked GREED.

It is not coincidence that Musk, Bezos, Zuckenberg, Ellison are all lurking.

Unlike traditional industries that need traditional immigrant labour, what these guys need is more energy and less regulation to run systems like AI platforms where revenue generation is built on automation.

As always, voters vote for emotional rhetoric and billionaires and millionaires profit.

As for the top guy he remains a more accurate representation of the US than most people outside the U.S. can ever realize.

By any means necessary. That’s the American ethos and like Rome it is its excesses that shall run the ship aground.

IIRC Republicans were much better for the Caribbean, and by extension the World, than the Democrats and Hillary the warmongerer. Now I guess both Democrats and Republicans are on the same "devil" footing. As you said, better late than never.
