BCCI directive; Test Players must play Ranji Trophy!

Where is the directive for Hope and other Test hopefuls from CWI? Sammy please do not select anyone who refuses to play R4D when available. R4D is an opportunity for them to get some time at the crease and prove themselves and may bring a few fans to the grounds (wishful thinking).

Let’s try some math

The capacity at the cricket ground in Delhi is just under 35k

The population of Delhi is 34 Million people

So at max capacity, that stadium represents .0009 of the population of Delhi

The largest island in the West Indies in terms of population is Jamaica at just under 3 Million people.

Sabina Park is the biggest cricket ground in Jamaica has a max capacity of 20k

Applying that .0009 from Delhi, would equate to just under 20 spectators at Sabina Park


I’m sure that there were more than 20 people at the ground to witness the Jamaica match. From that perspective more West Indians come out to watch cricket than Indians.

And with no Jamaicans on the West Indies team, as Slippy loves to constantly remind us, to boot

Good analysis, but the bigger point is having your best and contracted players participate in our 4 day competition, it will be good for our your cricketers and help the established ones to improve as well.

and that is the major point. Previously our professional cricketers played the regional season. Our current professionals do not care to.

If the population of Jamaica is let's say 2million , then 0.0009 x 2,000,000= ???

Appreciate the mathematical comparative analysis however you are comparing a domestic match vs an International match. In any case we need Hope and other players to raise the standard of play and Sammy should insist that Hope plays in at least 3 regional games before selection.
