Does Israel think it can get away with this?

Yes, it does?

Just as the American conservative right-wing pursue with their attack on CRT, DEI, affirmative action, emphasizing “wokeness” as a convenient derision of blackness, and seek to deny black history, which is American history, through the banning of books, the Israeli right-wing, taking a page from the American playbook, seek to do the same thing to Palestinians.

Israeli police have raided the leading Palestinian-owned bookshop in occupied East Jerusalem and detained two of its owners, arrests that rights groups and leading intellectuals said were designed to create a “culture of fear” among Palestinians.

Police officers ransacked two branches of the Educational Bookshop on Sunday afternoon, using Google Translate to examine the stock, then detaining Mahmoud Muna, 41, and his nephew Ahmed Muna, 33, on suspicion of “violating public order”.

Police cited a single children’s colouring book as evidence of incitement to terrorism, although CCTV footage showed them filling several black bin bags with books to carry away during the raid.

Israel is no democracy. No matter how hard it tries to put its case and deny the obvious. If it is a democracy, then, it's only a democracy for one group of people and not for the others, which in effect makes it an apartheid state.

Shush. Don't say that too loudly. Such a critical assessment makes one anti-Semitic.
