The Israelites were a protected people for a purpose. That purpose was realized when the messiah came. The jews subsequently rejected Jesus.

As was the case many times prior, this rebellion led to God ending his relationship with the Jews....The Abrahamic Covenant ended. When the prophecy at Luke was fulfilled in 70ce.

“Because the days will come upon you when your enemies will build around you a fortification with pointed stakes and will encircle you and distress you from every side, and they will dash you and your children within you to the ground, and they will not leave a stone upon a stone in you, because you did not discern the time of your being inspected.”​—Luke 19:41-44.

That relationship was never restored because the Jews do not accept Jesus as the Messiah.... A new Covenant was formed between Jesus and his apostles.... When he broke the Bread and passed the wine....A covenant between Jesus and those who exercised faith in him as the son of God was then formed creating spiritual Israel.

Fyi all records of Israelite descent were destroyed when Jerusalem was ransacked by the Romans. Although the Israelite were taken captive for their disobedience to God in prior times, the record of their descent was never destroyed....the only record we have is of those up to Jesus day and mostly so that we can prove the lineage of Jesus.

Such is the extent that God ended their approved standing with him.
