Bat on boy bat on

PalsofMine 2025-02-13 21:58:55

Nope and he looks like he has some more runs under the belt as well. A good season will do a lot for his confidence for our non-playing test vice captain after that drop in Pakistan.

Narper 2025-02-13 22:48:43

Jangoo keeping in this match.
Imlach keeping and kicking de door

Josh eyeing a middle order spot

Well, he is 26 years old so nobody should be considering writing him off just yet. Tevin Imlach, who took over the gloves for the tour of Pakistan, is actually older than Da Silva. If Joshua Da Silva comes back stronger, all the better for West Indies cricket.

PalsofMine 2025-02-14 14:32:29

Indeed. Either one of them has a chance as playing as a batsman only if they have a good enough performance for the season. Both are already ahead of Athanaze, Greaves, Louis, Carty to date.

if carty dont make runs, he could be the most vulnerable

He is not dead but the track is: Leewards 154/0.

I can't see him replacing anyone in the test team- not for his batting or his glove work. He dropped catches today.
He had a nice long run, but he did not improve in any part of his game.

Carty is extremely vulnerable in the red ball squad. I was one of those calling for him to get a chance as he looked so organised in his play but he has been pretty woeful in the tests and not so exciting in the field even. If he ends up with a season FC season, he should be in the A team at least but not even in the test squad for me

He cashed in on an easy one

this is what you do when you lose your test spot

PalsofMine 2025-02-15 20:37:39

agreed. I have said previously that my only conclusion from this game is how easy the pitch was to bat on. Each of these teams had a chance here to pull ahead in the championship but lost out because it was impossible to get a result in 4 days on that pitch once teams were fairly evenly matched as these were. All it means is that Guyana and probably Barbados remain within touching distance.

yes. had to apply himself though. josh is clearly showing he wants his spot back. that is the kind of application we want to see from WI players, especially with the 2025-27 WTC being a referendum/extinction level event for WI cricket

He gets my vote.

Cricket_101 2025-02-16 01:36:24

Josh is a good batsman and mentally tough, which is a plus for him. He needs to work on his technique against certain deliveries…

against spin certainly. looks a little awkward. i have no problems with his technique against pace. in fact i think he's one of the best players of fast bowling in the west indies right now, and thank god he missed that pakistan tour, it would have surely destroyed his confidence

Josh can bat. He should focus on that and making the WI team in that capacity.

The gloves is a handy utility tool to have in case it’s needed.

But his focus should be fully on his batting.

You think he can compete with the current lot for a batting place?

Jumpstart 2025-02-16 18:44:37

In reply to Halliwell

lollollol Well they're not averaging 40s, or 35 or 30. in fact only two batsman average over 30.....sobers jr and hodge

Who is Josh playing against?

Hahahaha. Was having a rough day at work and then saw this and the skies immediately lightened. What competition pray tell? with a bunch of pple averaging in their teens and twenties?

mine too

Josh Da Silva needs to believe enough in his batting that he is prepared to give up the gloves. i think he is more than good enough as a batter to make it as a specialist if that was his sole focus. His keeping is not good enough, especially not compared to Imlach.

Early on in his career I had anticipated that we would be a test opener. He certainly has the temperament to bat high up the order.
