Horrible airport in wi ter. Good crew, grouphug d staff. 15 injured, iPhone critical. They are lucky to be alive. Losing the wings may have helped.

High cross-current winds also.

We have seen exceedingly high snowfall these past two days. Haven’t seen such high snow fall in a long time.

Snow has accumulated almost half-way up my patio door at the back.

....

The runways at that time had a streamer coming off Lake Huron; it had hail turning into freezing rain.

A plane landing at 150 mph and then having to apply brakes was not a brilliant idea in such conditions by authorities.

Airplanes use disc pad brakes to slow down when landing, which are essentially the same type of disc brakes found in cars.
Calipers squeeze brake pads against a rotating disc to create friction and slow down the wheels;
this system is part of the aircraft's landing gear and is activated when the pilot applies the brakes

Winds were circular in motion on the Niagara Escarpment at about 60 km; even walking was dangerous; imagine a plane landing.

‘Challenging weekend’: How Pearson airport is handling the snow aftermath

Then we have an idiot claiming its horrible in winter

While Pearson Airport does experience challenges during winter due to snow and cold weather, which can lead to flight delays and cancellations,
it's not necessarily considered "horrible," as they have dedicated snow removal systems and procedures in place to manage winter conditions;
however, it's important to be prepared for potential disruptions during severe storms and always check your flight status before heading to the airport in winter

The Canadian air hub earned a 6.11 total score, with 5.33 being awarded for on-time performance, 6.88 for customer opinion and 7.67 for food and shops.
Pearson is the largest and busiest airport in Canada, handling 44.8 million passengers in 2023.
As of 2019, it was the second-busiest international air passenger gateway in North America and the 24th-busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic.

I use Pearson for international travel and avoid any American airport; the British ones are even worse. Its busy, but I have never had a problem.

Which American Airport would have responded with such efficiency?

I don't want to even bring up Gander on Sept 2001.

There has never been a major airplane crash at Pearson International Airport. Like most busy airports it has had minor incidents, but nothing on the scale of this Delta crash.

The airport is efficient with an excellent safety record but with population growth, they are cramming as many flights as possible in and out of that airport.

I try to avoid Pearson International and fly from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport whenever I can. The travel experience is much easier and more pleasant than Pearson.

Not true. You forgot the previous miracle in 2005 when an Air France Airbus overshot the runaway and crashed with all 309 aboard escaping alive?

Right landing gear failed, wing touch ground and tear off separating from fuselage, wind gusts and momentum cause it to flip on the side where the wing missing it seems.
