Evin Lewis as test opener?

I see people wishing for various players as opener in the West Indies test team - Brandon King on top of most wishlists.

I am curious. How about Evin Lewis as a test opener?

I don't know if Evin Lewis wants to play test cricket. However, the current opening pair is so timid that they keep allowing the opposition bowlers to dominate them and build pressure. Is it not a good idea to have one opener be counter attacking and put pressure back on opposition?

Runs are runs. It is better to get to 60/2 in 15 overs then be 15/0 in 10 overs and then be 25/2 in 15 overs. Even in test cricket, what is the point of blocking every ball and not making any runs and then losing wickets? You have to make runs.

I am very impressed with Evin's hitting ability. He hits clean. He does not get bothered even if he is not able to score on some balls. He tries to stay at the wicket as long as possible. He is patient.

I feel that Evin Lewis has potential as a Test Opener. What do you guys think?

I welcome all players to make themselves available.

There is presently a first class tournament in progress.

I will like to see King, Lewis, Chase, Hope, Mayers, Greaves, Springer Shepherd,
and all them other missing people playing in this tournament.

There is a short break before IPL.

Until Lewis plays in four-day domestic cricket, then he shouldn't be considered as a potential Test opener.

I suspect he prefers to focus on limited overs cricket.

And he's not alone.

Lewis has zero interest in test cricket.

Nor can he walk into the test team based on the limited number of ODIs being played.

He was playing club cricket a few weeks back, why he's not selected/available for T&T, I don't know.

People make bold statements here all de time.
Who says Lewis is not interested.

Actually his T20 stock has declined.
One thing that I'm looking forward to in Scammy's appointment,
is a change in selection.

The CWI made is clear sometime recently that test selection would not be based on the red ball competition.

Scammy also said that he is working on having a better situation with franchise and Windies representation.
Let's see what April holds when Scammy takes the helm.
