I see people wishing for various players as opener in the West Indies test team - Brandon King on top of most wishlists.
I am curious. How about Evin Lewis as a test opener?
I don't know if Evin Lewis wants to play test cricket. However, the current opening pair is so timid that they keep allowing the opposition bowlers to dominate them and build pressure. Is it not a good idea to have one opener be counter attacking and put pressure back on opposition?
Runs are runs. It is better to get to 60/2 in 15 overs then be 15/0 in 10 overs and then be 25/2 in 15 overs. Even in test cricket, what is the point of blocking every ball and not making any runs and then losing wickets? You have to make runs.
I am very impressed with Evin's hitting ability. He hits clean. He does not get bothered even if he is not able to score on some balls. He tries to stay at the wicket as long as possible. He is patient.
I feel that Evin Lewis has potential as a Test Opener. What do you guys think?
