1-82 Joffrey playing 1-75 Woody

What’s the difference?

Kay 2025-02-22 21:04:16

He floored an easy chance that went into his lap at a crucial stage of the game .....

Stokes vs Archer - spot the difference haha
It’s clear to me

InHindsight 2025-02-23 03:25:01

Archer's lights were snuffed out just when it started to flicker, by the colonial masters.

One of his kind can't be great in Pommieland. Dais all sah

Raggs 2025-02-23 06:47:39

He will play again for England of course he will but now it’s plain to see by the fans and the ECB he isn’t the player of supreme class they signed up.
The loads of injuries, unable to make the difference in crucial games. Now he’s dropping elementary catches, falling asleep on camera while England is batting etc..etc.. Put it this way when his ECB contract is to be renewed he will be paid far less that what he is getting now, he is on superstar wages far more than a lot of his team mates.

Are you suggesting the West Indies dodged a bullet? lol

Because dem man dem wudda cuss Braff and IceCreanSimmo for ‘mashing up’ Archer and the cry wudda been ENG wudda manage he better

Raggs 2025-02-23 12:07:42

In reply to Halliwell
The guy isn't an Ian Botham, Ben Stokes character, the type that will drag a team across the finishing line or change the dynamics of a game by an epic performance.
That's what ECB gave him that multi million contract for. So yea, we dodge a prima donna bullet. He never pledge himself to the maroons because lack of funds etc ..etc...

sudden 2025-02-23 14:02:51

Didnt Archer win a 50/50 worldcup in a super over for Eng?

didnt Stokes lose a T20 WC bowling to C Brathwaite?

did Botham ever win a WC?

His pay bracket expects more. Not about loyalty or pledge to any flag but he does not make the difference when the big games is in the balance.
And to be truly honest about it, the ECB will review his contract and he'll have to take that dreaded paycut.

allan 2025-02-26 17:34:45

He done and that bowling attack.. haha

I hope that you realize that even if he does not get another Hingland contract,
he made over 5 million US so far in Hingland contract alone.

Even if he had a 15 years contract with Windies,
he would have earned half of that.

Now I am only talking about Hingland Central contracts versus Windies central contract.

I am aware that he earned much more with T20 contracts, county contract,
not to mention his many endorsements.

“ the players in the squad need to review their options”

Raggs 2025-02-26 18:27:36

All being equal I get the impression that Jofra Archer would have played for the Windies.
He seems watching him in camp or on the field of play he gravitates more towards the players of his ilk Adil Rashid and him are always together. I just notice such things.
If I can recall the director of cricket at the time Jimmy Adams and others tried to seal the deal but failed to win him over.
My eyes the pay offer by ECB won the day.So with big money comes big responsibilities and he doesn't deliver when the paymasters expect him to. It's just boils down to that for me.
So with the still images of him with his pads still on watching the game unfold and even after the game still looking on with 'what if only look' won't cut the mustard with the powers that be and especially not the English cricket fans.

Are you being rhetorical or just being idiotic.

You really think that any professional cricketer playing for the love of the game.

News Flash; they are playing for monies to feed their families and build a future.

All professional cricketers think about the retirement.

I realize that Gayle, Lara, etc living large now.

So please don't ask asinine questions her, because I stumped you.

If you want an serious answer.

Because of the moral codes associated with contracted players there.

Geeze...get a clue.

You think that if a morally corrupt place like USA offer the same amount of monies, the players would not flop there.

You really don't seem to understand cultural nuances.

Enough of this stupid chat.

So you are saying that you would work for free.

Bottom-line" - Archer making loads more than Windies would pay.

Deal with this an stop chatting nonsense.

I hear this nonsense from may idiots.

We go to work for one main purpose.
To make money to care for our economic needs.

Unless one has a fairy god mother/father
One has to work to buy the economic needs.

I wonder if when you took your job interview and the interviewer said (no pay).
What would have done.

In reply to NYCGURU

Lots of people are like that

Raggs 2025-02-27 19:34:19

Some cricketers would play for their country for nothing but just the funds just to do the job.
I'd say Australian Steve Waugh would be one and our Courtney Walsh is another.
Some like Viv Richards was given an empty cheque to fill in the numbers and didn't do it, to play in Apartheid South Africa. Not all players are money driven but most are.

Conorboy 2025-02-28 08:20:00

Yes, I agree with you here, when he looks back on his career he will appreciate the money however I do think there will be lots of regrets over his choice of duty.
Like you, I always try to look at the personal dynamics of the team and Archer in lots of ways was unappreciated and very often appeared lost., maybe unloved.
Similar to Malcolm and Small.

I don't blame Archer for playing for England, I think that was the only offer presented to him, my take is the end is very predictable, but he made good money in the process.

Raggs 2025-03-01 12:30:10

In reply to tc1

Listen bro..why does it always boils down to personal attacks when someone on here is making a general point?
For your information, I was born in London, grew up in Jamaica have properties in both countries moving to and fro.
Similar to your man Mr Courtney Browne. Or should I say Lennox Lewis.
Look, England has made 179 off 38 overs today. What they signed Jofra Archer up for was to give them a fighting chance. The figurehead to blast out a few top batters in the opposition to pave a chance for victory. No commentators in-between the innings breaks mention that as an option.
So there you go, he ain't in the superstar money bracket. Just face that fact and stop being childish when someone points out the obvious.

Listen, your constantly attacked on Archer for making a living in the UK, while you continue to do the same and from your own experience you has profited from life in England.
Athletes have choices just like you and me, you need to discontinue posting about this subject as it shows ingenious nature.

The personal attack is because your parents left Jamaica for a better life; no one went after them for leaving.

I continue seeing people attacking the Whiteball players for making a living when we all do the same.
Why don't you attack the JCA for not providing players to replace him?

I have always marveled at fans from the combined Ialands who always cry about discrimination. Years after the death of Sir Frank, the Windwards have yet to produce an international star, and these territories play together, leaving a number of talented youngsters on the sidelines.
I watched Barbados playing Dominica last year. That country has more Athanaze and Hodge that should be playing solo for Dominica in the regional tournament, the same can be said of St. Lucia, Grenada and the Islands in the Leewards.

I am very consistent on this point, never questioned Archer playing for England, just knew he would be dumped as soon as they find a white guy half as good.

jacksparrow 2025-03-01 20:49:48

Would that be different if he played for the West Indies and was dumped?
Talk with Tage, Bonner, Mayers and others who were dropped by the CWI.
Wanna always want players to be dropped, but now you think that because he is playing for England, the colour of his skin will be a problem
What a bunch of BS.

How many regional players are contracted in the IPL? Were they dumped because of colour?

positiveg 2025-03-01 21:40:47

Some people go on like money is everything. The greats like Jordan never just played for money. The amount of money these guys were offered, even taking pay cuts so the trams could bring in other players, due to salary cap issues etc. So this whole oh professionals only playing for money is BS.
That make it seems like all professional players of all sports are greedy and that's not the case.

Archer is primarily a bowler, obviously. However, the English love to laud his batting exploits too. Interestingly, his test match batting average stands at 7. Yes, you read that correctly, 7. That is the same as Courtney Walsh lol
