Sorry to hear about his passing and health struggles with Alzheimer's prior.
Geoffrey was a devoted servant to football which was his entire life from a young man
working with some of the less fortunate youth inspiring and mentoring many.
Few have given so much the game at all levels and excellence as a coach
is an eternal legacy and his contribution is legendary in unearthing talent
starting with young fellows such as Ivor Lodge and David Burgess and others
from Swallowfield area to High School and Major League Clubs.
He has left a legacy that probably will not be matched or exceeded.
May he b e remembered fondly and May he RIEP.
Thanks Geoffrey. Well done wonderful Servant.

A master recruiter at the high school (XLCR) level.

Maxwell was a visionary and inventive coach who was ahead of his time. There is little doubt that he had a passion for football, both as a cerebral player and, later, as an innovative coach.

That said, he did return to coach at his alma mater, Excelsior High School, and did lead the school to Manning Cup and Walker Cup titles. However, at Excelsior High School his methods, and personal conduct, were not always among the most scrupulous, so he left a mixed and bitter- sweet, legacy in his wake. Some of the strategies he employed in order to win were not universally applauded -, a harbinger, perhaps, of what was to occur years later.
