Goolie, Pooran score centuries in Felicity drab affair

Top-order batsman Jyd Goolie, fresh from Trinidad and Tobago Red Force duty where he scored his third first-class century (121 vs. Combined Colleges and Campuses in Tarouba) on January 28, scored an even hundred as Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) drew with Central Sports, denying the reigning champions a fourth consecutive victory from as many matches when play in the fourth match in the T&T Cricket Board Premier Cricket League Division 1 concluded on Sunday.

Victoria’s Marcelle Jones led six batsmen to score centuries in the round. He scored an unbeaten 173 as Victoria beat Preysal by six wickets in Barrackpore. The other run getters were Kamil Pooran (104—Central Sports), Jyd Goolie (100—Queen’s Park), Jason Batson (103—Preysal), Nicholas Sookdeosingh (149—Clarke Road), and Adrian Ali (100—Marchin Patriots).Meanwhile, Goolie’s hundred overshadowed Kamil Pooran’s first innings 104, his second consecutive triple-figure performance so far this season. However, Pooran’s effort could not prevent Central Sports from getting first innings points against their first real test after victories against Prisons, Victoria, and Preysal.

Starting the day on 125 for two and trailing by 97 runs in the first innings with Pooran in 82, Central Sports got to 214 all out. Sunil Narine took six for 46 as he was Queen’s Park’s best bowler. Queen’s Park won first innings points by a mere eight runs. With the Parkites holding a single-digit first innings lead and a lot of time in the day to go, the match was still attainable for either team to snatch victory based on a strong second innings performance. But Goolie led a determined Queens Park as the Tragerete Road team got a formidable 335 for 4 declared. Goolie scored an even unbeaten hundred, and skipper Darren Bravo scored 64, his second half-century of the match, having scored 67 in the first innings.

Pres Chaguanas in front as SSCL title race heats up

TODAY’S seventh-round PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) Premiership Division matches could prove decisive as the race for the title heats up.Top contenders and defending champions Presentation College Chaguanas remain unbeaten this season, leading the standings with 111 points.Still in the race in second place, 27 points behind, are St Mary’s College. While the top two teams will not face each other until the final round of the competition, today’s fixtures will be just as crucial in shaping the title race.

Pres Chaguanas will host St Benedict’s College in Chaguanas, aiming for a victory to maintain their lead at the top. Meanwhile, St Mary’s must secure a win against Hillview College at Honeymoon Park to close the gap.
St Mary’s have found their rhythm over the past three weeks, defeating Fatima College, Presentation College San Fernando, and ASJA Boys’ College San Fernando. A fourth consecutive win would keep them firmly in contention. However, Hillview are also on a three-game winning streak, having beaten Toco, Fatima, and Pres San Fernando, and have climbed to fifth place with 65 points.

Some of these youngsters are playing for clubs in T&TCB first division.

If they have Sammy's ground , no problem with Ganga ground—two failures.

Soon a Polly and Big dog Grounds.

When they have a FanAttick ground in the yard, we shall celebrate.razz
