Dream Team for Australia Test

Funnily enough when I was meditating today, the only thing I could think of was Cricket.

I am hopeful that Sammy could get some of the white ball players to play Tests. Hope has been raised by Nicky P's question on Instagram.

So, if we could get any WI player we wanted in the test team, what would the dream team look like.

Here is my dream team -

Brandon King / Evin Lewis
Kraig Brathwaite
Shai Hope (c)
Nicky Pooran
Kavem Hodge
Sherfane Rutherford
Amir Jangoo (WK)
Alzari Joseph / Kemar Roach
Gudakesh Motie / Warrican
Jayden Seals
Shamar Joseph

I would keep Alick Athanaze to complete the squad of 15.

The bowling I think is pretty well established. It is the test batting which needs to be strengthened.

What do you think?

As a squad, I agree with most of your picks but to leave out Tevin Imlach after the way he kept on those wickets in Pakistan, would be a very poor decision. His glovework throughout that series was absolutely brilliant. He also contributed a valuable knock in the second innings of the second test, which the West Indies went on to win.

Da Silva is a good batsman... Just need to be better against spin.

it was not spin that got him into trouble it was pace playing cross the line and getting lbw

Kevlon Anderson is playing first class, Rutherford is not.

He can get better in that dept as well.... He can bat and is mentally tough.

Has Pooran ever played test cricket?

I just do not see him and Lewis adjusting to the slow pace of test cricket after spending most of their cricket lives playing unorthodox shots tailored for the short version of the game.
At any rate it is worth a try to determine whether they can adjust their game. The team looks good otherwise.
I would simply leave Athanaze in the team instead of Rutherford, not on the outside looking in.

Teach them since they seem to have short memories. Two tons on a placid track where you practically had to get yourself out, and suddenly he is the real deal. Can't make this stuff up...

Everything is built twice, first in mind then in reality. You can not achieve what you can not dream. Hence, I dream.

Jangoo has looked like the best batsman out of Jangoo, Da Silva and Imlach in an actual international match. Since WI batting is really weak, we need the best batsmen we can find. Hence, my preference for Jangoo over Da Silva and Imlach.

Did you even watch the Pakistan series? Imlach displayed the best glove work for years - arguably by anyone, not just a West Indian. I like both Jangoo and Da Silva, certainly would not mind seeing Jangoo in the team as a batsman. It would be a mistake to drop Imlach after his showing in Pakistan.

Neither Evin Lewis nor Nicholas Pooran has ever played test cricket. Their first class records are as follows:

Nicholas Pooran:

Age 29
FC Record 5 matches, 319 runs @ 31.9 (strike rate 67) 2 fifties, HS 69

Evin Lewis:

Age 33
FC Record 22 matches, 1229 runs @ 30.7 (strike rate unavailable) 8 fifties, 1 hundred, HS 104

Dreamworld is right, the only 2 I would vaguely consider would be Hope contesting for a place in the middle order and Rutherford challenging for Greaves spot but Jason is also putting his hand up for that one.
Has to be Josh for me, had a great series in Oz so we know be can handle the pace and aggression of them.
