Machel spends more on his show at these competitions than the others. Hard for him not to win.

Panorama was good as usual.

Will have to watch Panorama recordings. Could not do the live stream this year. Phase II is my fave band musically, but I feel an attachment to Exodus because they were practically outside my room window in Milner Hall days on St Augustine campus.

Same here. Was a stones throw away from there doing postgrad.
The year I remember, though, they came last in the finals. But in the opinion of some music connoisseurs was one of the best melodies and arrangements, for pan that probably didn't belong in panorama. It was Ray Holman's pan woman.

The original Exodus pan woman 1987

The Andy Narrel and WDR big band jazz version

None of the over-arranged cacophony of today, just sweet pan with some motifs and a melody you can remember ten years later!! The tune is still a favorite in Universities where pan is part of the music curriculum.

Birdsong was dormant for a couple years. Performance-wise they re-surfaced in the past year. I believe they entered Junior Panorama.
More than just the panside now, they are called Birdsong academy, and conduct classes in pan etc.
