Imagine that eh?

Especially given all the success that the test team, particularly the batting, has enjoyed over the years

Not sure the point you are trying to make, however, note:

BATTER ODI AVE.
Sharma 48.74
Gill 62.51
Kholi 58.11
Iyer 47.73
Rahul 48.53

That's the Indian top 4 plus their wicketkeeper. Be very careful what you are thinking.......

I listened to the whole Sammy interview and I liked what he said. He said that he is not trying to make the one day team into the test team. Players will be selected on the basis of roles. That is good.

i think that there are white ball players who could succeed in test cricket if they try hard enough. They should prepare themselves by playing longer format and then be given a chance in test team.
