T&T gangs in UK seeking asylum , now visa required

UK now requires visas for T&T nationals
‘Financier helping gang members in asylum bid’
FOR nearly two years, one of the chief financiers of the Seven gang based in the United Kingdom has been secretly helping gang leaders and their members in their bid to seek asylum in the UK, as the Seven gang sought to expand their criminal network in that country. The UK government declared yesterday that due to a surge in asylum seekers from T&T (totalling 797 over the past two years), all nationals from the country will now require a visa to enter the UK.Several top-level intelligence sources, citing multiple reports—including a January 5, 2025, Sunday Express exclusive story on a top Seven gang member’s presence in the UK—have confirmed that one of the gang’s financiers has been orchestrating a covert pipeline for its members to enter the UK.

“He has been telling them exactly what to do as soon as they come off the plane from Trinidad and they arrive in the UK. They put their hands up in the air as soon as they step off the plane and inform authorities that they are seeking asylum because of safety concerns of threats they face in Trinidad,” said a top-level source with knowledge of the inner workings of multiple gangs in Trinidad and Tobago.A national security source revealed that several top members of the Seven gang were residing in the Milton Keynes area, approximately 50 miles north-west of London. Sources also indicated authorities were monitoring individuals in the Reading area who remained in constant communication with these gang members.

A UK-based source confirmed the Seven gang financier has also facilitated housing for several known gang members, including individuals wanted for crimes such as murder in Trinidad and Tobago. One source said he had visited a particular house late last year in London where there were at least 30 Trinidadians staying—some of whom were said to be persons of interest in various crimes in T&T.“We have information that a suspect involved in the killing of mechanic Ryan Abdool, who was shot in La Romaine last year, did flee the country to UK and has been staying with gang members also seeking asylum in the UK,” a senior police officer told the Express.

I doubt the numbers would have been concerning enough ‘this year’ to warrant this action. Was it a sweeping move against multiple countries?

As I noted, you are another clueless Trini Brit above. Call the Home office; they will give you details , unless you are one seeking asylum.

Ninefold increase in asylum claims from the Caribbean country has prompted ministers to act

A government spokesman said: “There has been a significant increase in the number of Trinidad and Tobago nationals coming to the UK as visitors only to claim asylum on arrival, which constitutes a misuse of our immigration system. The UK will bar tourists from Trinidad and Tobago from entering the UK without a visa after finding hundreds have abused the route to claim asylum.

The Home Office will announce on Wednesday that visitors from the Caribbean nation will have to apply for a visa before entering the UK after a ninefold increase in asylum applications. Claims from Trinidadians and Tobagonians have risen from an average of 49 a year between 2015 and 2019 to 439 last year. The numbers have been rising steadily over the past few years, with 173 in 2022 and 348 in 2023.

The Home Office has found that many visitors from the country were overstaying the six-month period allowed for tourists and claiming asylum, saying it was unsafe to return to the Caribbean country.
