Does Brian Lara must captain any West Indian team he turns out for? Charity or tournament wise after his retirement. Is it written in his contract he wasn’t a Frank Worrell or a Clive Loyld in his playing days.

So mek mi ask another question den.
Why should say Phil Simmons now play under Brian Lara's captaincy ?
Got all his coaching badges, coach international cricket teams. ...Even seh Jimmy Adams why should he be automatically forced to play any tournaments with Brian Lara and have him being his skipper when he stayed within the West Indies system, coaching etc...Direct of cricket Windies and Jamaica ?
Lara never done anything like that since he retired.
Can you see where I'm coming from now?

“Captained by Lara” instead of just “Lara is playing” brings additional eyes to the tv or feet to the stadium.

So Lara can’t play under nobody even if it benefits the team collectively?

Phil Simmons at this level I suppose. I’d say the best candidate

Has Phil Simmons captained any team at any international or regional level?

I could maybe see your point if you were asking why Lara was appointed coach of WI team. Simmons has coaching credentials....not captaincy.

But you have an issue with Lara as captain so that can't be it.

Could it be that your issue is with Lara? Captain or not?

Lara is the best batsman ever to lace up the pads and take guard in maroon colours. Headly, Rowe, Richards, Sobers…none on par. He just ain’t a very good cricket captain.

It’s simple promotional stuff at an unimportant fete tournament.

Of course it’s a bigger draw if Lara is on the promotional material and press conferences and billboards and photo shoots and adverts.

‘Captaincy’ arguments in curry goat cricket are a waste of time.

Give Mr Brian Charles Lara a break, please. Get over it.
Furthermore, one is being judged not by the answer he gives but the question he asks.

Lara was poor as captain, Hooper was a better captain, after Lara failed in his first stent Hooper came and was by far a better motivator, than, Lara could not take it he had to double cross him.
WI have had 2 great captains Sir Frank and Sir Clive, we have never dwell enough on the fact, that the lac of a good captain, have had a detrimental effect on WI cricket
