John Roberts and Trump’s immunity win at the Supreme Court

The Supreme Court’s toughest cases during Chief Justice John Roberts’ tenure have often generated internal suspense, with shifting votes, last-minute switches and the chief’s own push toward compromises that would lessen the appearance of politics.

Not so this spring, when the six Republican-appointed conservatives established a far-reaching immunity from prosecution for former President Donald Trump.

Sources familiar with the negotiations told CNN there was an immediate and clear 6-3 split, as the justices met in private in the oak-paneled conference room that adjoins the chief justice’s chambers.
Roberts made no serious effort to entice the three liberal justices for even a modicum of the cross-ideological agreement that distinguished such presidential-powers cases in the past. He believed he could persuade people to look beyond Trump.

Now that you brought this up I remember at the time Ketanji Brown Jackson said something to the effect that she fears that a president rather than being constrained in his decision making by the fact that he has immunity for certain acts, might actually feel embolden to act contrary to the provisions of his presidential powers. How those words must be ringing in Roberts ears to cause him to speak out, as that is the very same situation that is unfolding before his very eyes. Trump even thanking him for it in Public, thinking he now has carte blanche to do whatever he wants. I can see those stares without words going towards Roberts on the SCOTUS bench, saying without saying, we $@%& tucking told you so, you better go fix this mess you guys created.

Remember this at his Congress speech

Trump:
When Trump reached Roberts, Trump patted his arm and said, “Thank you again. Won’t forget it.”

Roberts just acknowledged by shaking his head.
Regardless of Roberts's thoughts, he pivoted and exited the room.

I am starting to believe that there is a direct back channel between the Trump Whitehouse and the Supreme Court which informs what actions the WH can take and expect to get a pass from this Roberts Court.

There are all in the act to take America back for whites in an ever increasing majority-minority country. It's why one sees very few white Democrats making much of a fuss about Trump's attacks on democracy, his executive action in repealing post-50s civil-rights, his attack on DEI (short for Black) and other egregious policies that impact minorities, especially Blacks.
