NEW DELHI (Reuters) - The Indian cricket board (BCCI) handed its team, which claimed the Champions Trophy title earlier this month, a $6.72 million cash bonus on Thursday, an amount three times the winner's purse for the 50-overs tournament.

Rohit Sharma and his men beat New Zealand by four wickets in the March 9 final in Dubai to win their second successive global title, following their Twenty20 World Cup triumph last year. The team took home $2.24 million for the Champions Trophy win.

Are you saying others are not motivated?
That statement is totally BS, players compete to win, but in all sports, only one succeeds, and that is why they will return to practice and competition.
Clive Llyod's team were all motivated by winning matches and series, they have yet to receive such huge bonuses.

You are referring to the days when there were no other competing interests that were doling out big money for the best talents. Now players can choose to take their business elsewhere if the price is not right.

And there is no better example that right here at your doorsteps ...... money and not merely winning is the prime motivator

Performance comes with contract increases, you can talk to players who lose contracts annually.
That is why when most of us are enjoying life, these players are practicing to become among the best.
Pooran's contract in the IPL is base on previous year performance, while a player like Shai Hope performance left him without a contracted.
