JOSHUA DA SILVA-AUTOMATIC WI Pick
In reply to Jumpstart
Slowly sealing the deal as a middle order bat.
He's batted himself back into the team.
John Campbell backing out.
For me, he must be in the middle order. Tevin Imlach was outstanding behind the stumps during his debut series in Pakistan and has performed very well with the bat in the current regional tournament, so he cannot be dropped and must remain with the gloves for the short term and hopefully, also the future. Joshua Da Silva back into the team and along with one or two others, solidifying that brittle middle order.
If DaSilva is included in the final eleven the only player he can replace is Jangoo, I do not know if the Selectors would drop him after one Test, both Hodge and Athanaze might be safe for now. The Selectors have a lot of decisions to make, if DaSilva is made captain and Jangpp is dropped, who would bat at #3?

Rubbish. Only two people sure of a pick in that batting lineup are imlach and Jangoo….their test careers are two tests old. Everybody else has performed woefully in the last year. Regularly, DaSilva and motie had to be coming in at 50-100 for 5. Totally unacceptable

So explain the difference between automatic pick and sure pick.

Given Da Silvia’s performances in the tournament: 3 hundreds, two half centuries, it will be difficult to leave him out, even as a regular batsman. The rest of the incumbents have not only struggled at international but have not been as successful in this tournament.
You see if this was a case of a highly successful batting lineup then fine. Mike Hussy couldn’t make the Australian test side until he was 30 because Australia had a phenomenally successful lineup. Darren Lehman also happened to be a victim of the team’s success. But the WI lineup is not successful. They can’t even chase 260 against a second string SA attack with three days to chase. What can you possibly tell a batsman who has done as well as da Silva if you don’t pick him in a lineup that cannot make 260 against 2nd string bowling attacks with 3 days to chase them….not to mention the humiliations against bangladesh

Imlach is batting his way into the squad, right now.

Imlach and Jangoo were already automatic picks for me. Their test careers are only two tests old. The rest have had a decent run
Sammy in charge now. All that previously happened is immaterial.
Don’t be surprised if Jewel Andrew gets selected and Hodge is captain

Kevlon Anderson ?
He should also be in the team

Not sure, the gloveman did the job with distinction in Pakistan, and I am not sure Josh can replace him yet. Good problem to have for WI. In addition, Josh's glovemanship is still not the best.
Perhaps, play him as a specialist batter? But no, he is not, in my book, an auto pick.

That’s what I’m arguing. Josh is the best player of pace bowling in the WI. And Australia is a pace heavy attack
