Yes but that is affected by the absence of the two Josephs and Seales.
Some of the regional bowlers are bowling with decent pace, I have gone through some of the bowlers performances and stats to make the following notes:
Johann Layne has looked quicker this season and bowled very well on his way to taking 20 wickets in five matches. If he had not missed a match, he would have likely made the list. He has also barely bowled half of the overs that Joshua Bishop has sent down.
Gillon Tyson has bowled quickly (16 wkts @ 29 for Windwards), again, doing so when missing time in the middle.
Oshane Thomas, polarizing as he is among supporters, has taken 15 wkts.
Ramon Simmonds, the Barbadian left armer has 13 wkts in 4 matches at a good strike rate.
Another of note is Joshua James, who is certainly in the one-to-watch category, after taking 14 wkts (avg.13) with an impressive strike rate better than all of the spinners leading the way other than Pierre. He is brisk rather than out-and-out fast but has a strong build and gets the ball to lift and move, something different that can be worked with.
Kelvin Pitman has made progress this season, although his fitness needs to be maintained going forward. He has the ability to bowl fast though.
Keon Gaston debuted for Windwards during this latest round of matches and at times, looked pretty lively and will have been delighted with such a decent haul on his first appearance at first class level (7/78 in the match vs Barbados)
Plenty of known commodities such as Akeem Jordan, Marquino Mindley, Matthew Forde, Odean Smith etc. have all chipped in at times too and it was good to see Chemar Holder return to the field after such a long lay off.
One name sadly not on the list is that of the young Guyana fast bowler, Isai Thorne. He burst onto the scene over a year ago and had some of us sitting up and taking notice, due to his pace and hostility. He bowled just seven overs in the opening match of the championship for Guyana against Barbados at Providence, then was injured. I for one hope that he heals up quickly, as his returns of 31 wickets at an average of just 17 and very impressive strike rate of under 30, are statistics that any young fast bowler would be proud of after just 9 matches.
