This is a Catholic question for people of the Catholic sect of Christianity to determine based on their understanding of their theology. It is not a question for "the world" as your colonial mind-set suggested.

Frankly, "the world's" non Catholics couldn't care less about Catholic theology in selecting their chief spiritual leader. I do wish them lots of luck.
