It isn't just the tariffs for Canadians. It is the Maga people we have to deal with when we are down there. Canadians have been reporting having their cars vandalized when they went to a Mall across the border and being told to go home, because we aren't wanted in the USA. It is the threats from the US Border Staff. For the people who have winter homes in Arizona and Florida, etc. their neighbours who they thought were friends are turning on them and telling them they really should go home. It is American animosity towards Canadians that we won't deal with. Why should we?

It’s true, I loved my Arizona place, but had to sell. We are being harassed, confronted (they think Canada has been ripping off the US as per trump rhetoric) and even vandalized and threatened with being shot if we stayed. It’s not something I ever thought I’d see in my lifetime. But here we are.

Most Americans dont seem to realize yet that this Canadian boycott is not organized in any way. We all decided individually for ourselves at almost exactly the same time. This is a DEEP grassroots response to the US of MAGA, and will stay with us for a Very Long Time, probably the rest of my life, even if Trump and MAGA shut up snd go away.

Canadian here. Trump keeps saying he doesn't want/need anything from Canada. So we made his wish come true. I live literally 5 minutes from the US border. Ain't crossing this border anymore. None of the people I know are crossing the border either, Not buying anything American. Not sorry.

The Province of Manitoba announced that it will not be renewing 2 of its US hydro contracts when they expire. This will release 500 megawatts of power to be used in Canada. 50 megawatts will be redirected to a new transmission line up to Nunavut.
Canada here. I like Andrew Chang, too, so thanks for this. I had a brief exchange with an American several weeks ago on a YT thread. He was extremely dismissive of what Canadians could do to impact American jobs or businesses by boycotting travel to the US. Most Americans have no idea how much of their economy relies on trade and travel from Canada, so a lot of this is going to be news.
