Tyreke Bryan of STETHS 239 runs record in Spaulding Cup

Congrats to Captain Tyreke Bryan of STETHS on his double century in 2025 Spaulding Cup and record of highest individual score in ISSA schoolboy cricket competition. Tyreke scored 239 Runs in the Spalding Cup to break the record for the highest individual score in the history of the competition!

We need to keep these talented youth batsmen in the loop and CWI should be involved in their development.

So Chrissy, it seems like all is not lost in cricket as a sport in Jamaica, looks like there are many talented young cricketers around, so now it’s up to JCA and CWI to harness their development. We cannot attempt to develop cricket only on one island and neglect the rest of the region. West Indies cricket history has proven that cricket talent exists all Caribbean territories.

To piggyback on your schoolboy's highest score

Oraine Williams - Innswood High School scored 264 in schoolboy cricket.

I think Garrick, Blackwood, Powell, and Royal scored heavily in schoolboy cricket - if I recall correctly, either Blackwood or Powell may have scored a triple.

Fabian Allen, was recognized for his 338, - the highest-ever individual score in rural schoolboy cricket, surpassing the 325 made by Eltham High's Shacoya Thomas.

Thomas used to score centuries at will, so too another student from either Innswood or Eltham, whose name escapes me just now. He played a few matches for Jamaica but was put out to pasture very soon.

I remember Ricardo Powell scoring a triple in a regular season game, and yes Shacoya Thomas was a heavy scorer in schoolboy cricket.

I believe folks are misinterpreting you here, SF. What I recall the commentator telling, and I think what you are saying too, is that it is the highest score in the actual Spalding Cup play-off. Not in schoolboy overall.

Yes highest in Spaulding Cup playoff but my major point might be lost in all the other posts, that JCA and CWI need to become intentional in the development of these talented youths or their interest in the game and talent will soon be directed into other sports or other activities. We have lost so many talented players along the way, and currently there are no Jamaicans on the WI Test team.
