Very moving Video on the life of Darren Sammy

A video posted on YouTube features the lifestyle of Darren Sammy, encompassing his life’s journey from poor, obscure boy from an unknown island who through hard work, discipline, a motivational father who sold his fishing boat to assist Sammy in his career and with sheer resilience grew up to become not only West Indies captain but led West Indies to two world cup championships. It also highlighted the fact that Sammy may not have been the most talented as many other players on the team, which was vociferously reinforced by fans and sports media around the region but where he lacked in talented he made up in his discipline, hardworking abilities, leadership abilities and a never give up attitude. I guess I have renewed respect for Sammy as he represents many youths growing up in the region who loves the sport of cricket and just looking for an opportunity to shine. That’s why now that he is coach of the West Indies team, he should not allow himself to influenced by certain islands but be broad minded and objective by looking for the most talented players in the region, regardless of island of origin.

You were going good until you typed:

Which Yardie got shafted by Sammy? Brandon King is there...Just.

Sammy has never exhibited this as he just wants to win and get WI back to the top. He recalled and supported your homeboy Russell, dropped Athanaze but i get it you want more. Well produce better talent.

Sammy has inspired a lot of young Lucians to pick up the bat- Auguste, Mckenny Clarke, Descarte, Kimani Melius etc. Yes he came from humble beginnings and has not forgotten that.

One does not have to be a great player to be a successful coach. The Captain Darren Sammy showed all of us, his management style by winning two championships.
We all should be respectful of it.

The story of his humble beginnings to West Indies captain should be a source of inspiration to many youths around the region but if he starts to think and act like previous narrow-minded WI coach and CWI Officials, then all of his accomplishments would have been in vain. We need new thinkers in WI cricket with ability to think outside the colonial box.

The management style that had Samuel's saying " Give me the ball!" Then grabbing it from Sammy's hand and restricting Lanka in the final over to win us our 1st T20 Champs? Laissez Faire? Or, the other where Ramdin, Bravo, Gayle set the field and Otis bowling changes were apart from Sammy's hiding were strictly followed... was that delegating, just being a stooge or " following from behind? Was Sammy's a regular member or a proven deserved 1st pick of any WI senior XI when he was foisted on WI as cappo? Did CWI have to sideline previous cappos/VC's before elevating Sammy's? Sarwan, Gayle, Bravo, Ramming (Shiv didn't care) Goebbels could've produced that. Know propaganda wrapped up as PR when I see it. Mi nuh play hypocrite to lies an' corruption

VOD even when one posted some inspiring information about Sammy, your default instinct is still to rationalize a way to fight for him, although there was nothing to fight about. I know Sammy would agree with me on this one. big grinbig grin

I do not hate a single human, what I hate are lies, Hypocrites and corruption. With attendant facts please refute all that I have said. The only thing in that whole thing that is picong is Sammy following Gibson/Simmon's bowling changes to a T. We all saw him.hide or come on when there's already pressure. We all saw him fail more times than not with bat. We all saw seniors ignore him and set fields. He nor any other team-member has never disputed Marlon's claim

Man STFU with your nonsense ! Two World cups and all you could focus on is he say, she say macumere business.

I did not even bother to read your drivel but let me accommodate your assishness:

The management style that had Samuel's saying " Give me the ball!" Then grabbing it from Sammy's hand and restricting Lanka in the final over to win us our 1st T20 Champs? Laissez Faire

Sammy scored 33 off 17 in that same World cup final. Ok so Marlon bowled the last over well give the Captain the credit for knowing what was working the said day! That is why we won 2 world cups and none since!!!

Or, the other where Ramdin, Bravo, Gayle set the field and Otis bowling changes were apart from Sammy's hiding were strictly followed... was that delegating, just being a stooge or "

He say/she say Macumere business!

The mercenaries Bravo, Gayle had no time for WI cricket. However Sammy did and still does.
Like I said HATER!

I won't have to curse but I guess that
a. I also hate Cameron rather than despise his lies and corruption.
b. Find me a single series or Game prior to Ernest Hilaire's tenure where Bravo or Gayle was picked/ available for WI/not out due to injury or family illness/death but did not turn up and play? See who is not just the hater but also a sheeple like sychophant?
I made a mistake...thought you were above being a fanatic and not just a little dumb.

The West Indies captain, Chris Gayle, tells Anna Kessel of his reservations about taking up the post
Note: poor quality audio

When they asked you to be captain, how did you feel, what thoughts went through your head?

At the time, when I was asked to be the captain, I didn't want to be the captain. Because I knew it would take up the majority of my time and I always want my time. How it come about I became captain, because Sarwan was the captain and then he actually got injured ... [inaudible] … that's when it all started.Lest we forget
