I think it was bought by Carl Ichan, and made a part of Continential ,which is now United.

I recall the Eastern Shuttle becoming the short-lived Trump Shuttle.

I was surprised, however, to see an active 'airline' with the name 'Eastern'.

A side story here...

I was in the Yard holding an Eastern Airlines return ticket when they went out of business. With all my funds expended, I had to seek help in purchasing a (discounted) ticket from Air Jamaica for my return to New York.
