"PNM Crisis Leadership: Demands Accountability in the Face of Chaos and Corruption"

The PNM's leadership has completely deserted the party, leaving its members fumbling around like chickens without heads.
For the foreseeable future, this state of confusion is probably going to persist.
Young has demonstrated inefficiency as a leader, and Beckles-Robinson just does not possess the skills required for the position.
Her gender, which seems to take precedence over true leadership abilities in the current environment, is her only noteworthy characteristic.

Rowley, Stuart, and Imbert are unquestionably the main culprits behind the PNM's electoral failure.
Party members who have profited from the State—not on the basis of merit, but rather through heedless loyalty and monetary donations to the government—will suffer greatly as a result of their actions.

While many worthy citizens suffered, these leaders probably became wealthy and relished their time in office.
That some may have even accumulated millions over the last ten years is not surprising.
Instead of serving the nation, they have served Rowley.
Every cabinet member and appointee who permitted the corruption of this administration bears some of the blame.

The time has come for them to do the right thing and step down right now, or face expulsion.
For those citizens who have been denied rights and privileges because they have refused to submit to Rowley's whims, anything less would be incredibly unfair.
As T&T proceed, it is imperative that the new administration form an impartial professional committee to look into the egregious mismanagement of Rowley and his administration.
This question is essential for figuring out how much damage has been done and how to start fixing it.

This is a difficult task that needs to be supported by factual data and carried out by reliable people who aren't biased politically or have other hidden agendas.
T&T's future course will be greatly influenced by the calibre and comprehensiveness of the information this committee provides.
It would be completely pointless to move forward without it.

All planning must be based on reality, which is the foundation of politics.
Beckles, Stuart, and other supporters of Rowley will have to deal with the consequences of his careless choices while he settles into a comfortable life of golf and business.

I want to be clear that I don't have high expectations for the UNC because it will be difficult given T&T's economic situation and the inexperienced cabinet that lacks a variety of skills.
The damage cannot be corrected in 5 years.
Even though T&T citizens have had to pay a high price for this intervention—one that we must learn from—the overthrow of Rowley and his corrupt government is an unmistakable sign that higher powers are at work.

Pardnah this is the story of TT politics
I was in Trinidad during the UNC tenure…small time councillor was putting up bigger mansion than President’s House!

Time to drop the Rowley Derangement Syndrome and hold this new crew to account!

It’s quite an interesting time in T&T’s political and economic landscape, isn’t it? The fallout within the PNM after their election defeat is certainly shaking their political foundation. These kinds of internal conflicts after a major loss aren’t uncommon, but they do tend to leave parties struggling to maintain cohesion and relevance in the short term. It will be intriguing to see how they attempt to rebuild and what strategies they adopt to stay in the game.

On the other hand, the UNC, being just a few weeks into their tenure, has already sparked significant conversation. A GDP growth announcement? If that happens, it would be a surprising and rapid turnaround, given the broader challenges in the economy. Petrotrin reopening, as you noted, is likely years away, not to mention the complexity of restarting Caroni, if ever. Your PNM destroyed both entities .These are monumental tasks that require substantial planning, funding, and execution. If there have been announcements or developments, I’ve yet to see concrete details that suggest these projects are moving forward.

The deficit figures mentioned—an expected $11 billion and the $4.4 billion borrowing from the central bank—paint a grim picture of the fiscal challenges ahead. It’s no secret that the government will need to make some tough calls to stabilize the economy, and the removal of tax-free perks (housing and vehicles) for parliamentarians, while symbolic, may signal a shift toward fiscal tightening. These moves could help regain public trust, but they’ll need to be coupled with broader systemic reforms to truly make an impact.

The reduction in crime since the government took office is certainly notable. A no-murder streak in T&T is nothing short of remarkable,it in the early days. Whether this reflects a shift in policing strategies, governance, or just a temporary lull, it’s something everyone will be watching closely. Sustaining that kind of progress would be transformative for the country.

The road ahead for the UNC is steep, and managing public expectations—especially with promises around economic recovery and crime reduction—will be critical.

Time, Let’s see how they navigate this moment.

PNM's Foster Cummings responds to detractors in scathing post

A day after some Peoples National Movement (PNM) members called for the removal of Foster Cummings as PNM general secretary, he has responded in a scathing social media post.

“I am loyal to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the party founded by Dr. Eric Williams the resilient, People's National Movement. Given the information circulating in the public domain, I wish to state that I was not consulted and I certainly did not approve of the strategy engaged by those who took us from Government to Opposition in furtherance of their agenda. If today their nameless and faceless supporters wish for a change in the Office I hold for the moment, they are all free to offer themselves at the internal elections which will be held soon as we move towards our Annual Convention.

In due course I will have more to say on this matter but as General Secretary my first responsibility is to the party, the membership and the office that I hold I refuse to publicly engage those who have been recruited to attack me and other party leaders personally in the hope that they can shift the blame and that their sponsors could possibly take control once more.
I proudly support Penelope Beckles as Leader of the Opposition and the next Political Leader of the People’s National Movement, my decision in this regard is unshaken notwithstanding these attacks. I call on all party members to work together to rebuild this great party and to continue in Service to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.”

PNM group calls for Foster to go; wants audit of all internal elections

Foster strikes back...and blames Rowley
Post-election turmoil in the PNM

As the post-election turmoil in the PNM continues, general secretary Foster Cummings issued a statement yesterday in which he appeared to criticise former PNM political leader Dr Keith Rowley, whom he alleged adopted an election strategy that took the party from government to opposition.Cummings is under pressure from elements within the party to resign his position as general secretary. Some of these persons, who call themselves “PNM changemakers”, submitted a statement on Thursday in which they accused Cummings of abusing his office and breaching the party rules in the recent election of a chairman by the General Council which took place on Tuesday.

The General Council voted 60-58 in favour of Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly as the interim chairman. But questions have been raised about the eligibility of two voters—Dr Amery Browne and Roger Monroe—who were delegates of the legislative grounds, but who at the time of voting had ceased to be members of Parliament and were therefore no longer eligible to vote.Meanwhile, PNM interim chairman Gadsby-Dolly also issued a statement yesterday attacking the “PNM changemakers”, whom she described as the “nameless, faceless, baseless cowardly”.“As chairman of the PNM I issue due notice on behalf of the leadership: the PNM...is down but not out, denied (office) but not defeated. Pay our political opponents no mind; and closely examine the horns of all who claim to love the PNM—none who seek our best interest will encourage hatred and divisiveness; but unity,” Gadsby Dolly stated.
