RIP my Muddie brethren. A tribute…

Just found out yesterday that a Muddie friend of mine passed about a year ago …IndoGuyanese he represented the culture well…he relocated to Yard as a kid with his family and became more of a Yardie than most people born in Yard…

to say that this man lived life to the fullest was an understatement…

we had some great times roaming every corner of Yard..weekends were great because of this dude..he was my designated driver even after he would knock back a dozen cold Red Stripes….

he was a great driver but seems that his skills got even better when he was under the “affluence of incohol” as we would joke….Sunsplash, Dover Race Track, Negril…just to name a few of our main spots…he was a fantastic badminton player…I got into badminton (“bedminton”when we entertained company) with his encouragement…

one of my favorite pictures (I have it somewhere and will go digging this weekend) is a picture of he, yours truly and 2 other brethren (the 4 musketeers) dressed to the nines sitting on the front of his car at a party hosted by Appleton Estate…that was epic..

I left Yard before mobile phones were a thing . My brethren relocated to Canada to further his education in the architectural field…one of my bad habits is that I dont keep in touch with peeps so we lost touch…life, career, family got in the way…

I dont know why he crossed my mind yesterday and did a search and saw the news…all that’s left to say is that I was blessed to cross paths with this legend…walk good brethren..

Nice tribute and he was certainly a good buddy to tag along with.
Like you ,keeping in touch is big problem for me but fun times are
never forgotten.

A funny story about the day my brethren boxed a piece of food out of my mouth…

One Friday evening my brethren and I were at a club in Sav..I spotted this magnificent browning…I decided that I had to engage..I approached and started to converse…

I was known for being a lyrics banton back in the day and before long was making good progress in the negotiations…I arranged a beach trip for the next day…given that I was already fully occupied with my significant primary who lived in Kingston, I had to move cautiously…

anyway my brethren and I along with another brethren headed down to Negril and picked up the browning on the way…when we got to Negril I started working on setting up the food and drinks before planning my angle of attack…

the next thing I knew my brethren (who was a very good swimmer and had no impediments to contend with - being free like a bird) - had offered the browning some swimming tips (backstrokes and breast strokes it seems) and had waded out to what looked like a mile out to sea.. Of course I had no choice but to take on the role as a mere spectator since I couldn’t swim to save my life…

by the time they got back to shore it was clear that my chances had diminished considerably and I had to concede defeat!

At the end of the event, I gave my brethren the keys to my place so he could consummate his conquest…

about a week or two later, my significant primary came to visit…

then next thing I knew I was getting yelled at because she had discovered an item of intimate apparel that didn't belong to her which was left there by the browning unbeknownst to me…

to this day, try as I might I couldn’t come up with an explanation to her satisfaction as it was a case of dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t….needless to say that precipitated conscious uncoupling in short order…to add insult to injury not only did I lose the battle, I also lost the war…you win some, you lose some…
