Kirk McKenzie should be considered as the first player selected on any squad against Australia. He was the only batsman who stood up the the fiery Australian pacers, when other notable WI batsmen were ducking and running from pace like fire. To select a squad without Kirk McKenzie would be a demonstration of insular, nonsensical and divisive selection policies which continues to destroy WI cricket and ICC rankings.

What rubbish, he was not the only one. Kavem Hodge and Da Silva got 70s in the test match we won.
Kirk got 50 and 26 in the 1st test. Also 21 and 41 in 2nd Test.

I do agree he should be in the squad based on previous performance but he needs to get back into form. The A team matches would have been ideal to trial him.

He is better player of pace than spin....he was sent to Chennai along with others to strengthen his batting specially against spin....What type of pitches against Australia decides the team...

Kirk contribution in that Australia series can never be underestimated...but he was greatly exposed in subsequent series against spin....he along with few went to India to rectify technical flaws against spin......in caribbean, we playing in spin pitches ..horses for courses ...like in Pakistan

Glad you published his scores now compare his score against your esteemed batsmen and you would agree with me that something would be wrong if he is not selected for Australia tour!

Well, it is a higher batting average than the test captain.

And McKenzie played for WI more recently than the captain too cool

I know its a small sample size but Chase played 2 Matches and averaged 58. Regardless you cannot compare the two as one was assessed primarily for his leadership and the other for his batting.

Leadership? Who has Chase led?

WI A vs NEPAL?

Come on man

There’s a difference between a Leader and a follower.

All Chase has shown is that he’ll do whatever Sammy says. He would do well in MAGA cool

None of us are privy to the internal dynamics of the team. Leaders have been identified based on their knowledge of the game and their leadership traits in the changing room the field. I see you are already creating that narrative that Chase is a yes man or puppet appointed by Sammy. Chase is his own man.

Was waiting for you to chime in, looking at the batsmen score against Australia, this is what really matters if you are selecting a squad against Australia. Would you in with good conscience leave out Kirk, considering that we have no world beater batsman available? Would you leave out the one batsman who stood up in successive innings against Australia? I posted the scores above so everyone can see the comparisons. Regional cricket is for only regional bullies, cannot be used to assess how a player will perform in test cricket. Here is a player who already demonstrated that he can play against one of the best teams in the world.

F.C.
@27...

A batter at 3.....averaging 16..... sent to India by CWI....this season....did commendable..... nothing special.....just 24 years......surely in loop....but Bishop got very raw deal....but again he has time on his side..Moreover, Jangoo did well in Pakistan....he should be earmarked as test no.3..... must be given three test against Australia.....

Campbell
Braithwaite
Jangoo
Silva
Chase
Imlach
Holder
Bowling unit according to pitch.....
