He’s selected on the 3 A teams against South Africa.
I also didn’t know Darel Cyrus but when I looked him up, I saw he’s a leg break bowler and lord knows we need wrist spinners in our teams so if that’s why he was selected, I have no issue with that.
But don’t know anything about Tyson expect his stats are pretty average. Think he ONCE took a 5 fer.
But what is he? Bowler? Batter? All Rounder? Wicketkeeper?
If a bowler, seam bowler or spinner?
Who is Gilon Tyson and why is he selected in the 3 A teams?

Perhaps another Castro!

Well if he’s another Castro aka Fidel Edwards, he will be one of the best selections in WI cricket
We can hope

He is a pace bowler. Big and stocky like Shannon and has good pace. Hails from Dominica which is becoming a powerhouse of Windwards cricket. Same island as AThanaze and Kavem Hodge.

Thanks vor. Knew nothing of him. He must have impressed them tremendously for him to be included in all 3 squads

In eight First Class matches, Gillon Tyson, has 32 wickets at an average of 22 with best figures of 7 for 86 along with two five wicket hauls.
Those numbers are impressive so one would think he deserves his pick.
Of course many of our players do well in First Class cricket so we'll just have to wait and see if he can take his game to the next level.

Well Sammy is the head scout for the Region.. So ah guess he hand picked Tyson.
Anderson is not big and stocky like Shannon so I could understand why he didn't impress the head scout

If I remember correctly Anderson Philip and Jayden Seales left during the First Class season to play county cricket in England.

I hope you're wrong, players should be picked based on performance.

What we are seeing here is a sideline of players who are not Sammy's men
This was the risk of making the head coach the only selector

Fans should be questioning Oshane Thomas' selection, after about 6 years on the regional scene, this year was the first time he took a 5-fer in first class cricket, I think Smith from Guyana is a better bowler. However, Tyson is good, he has pace and he swings the ball

Marquino Mindley had a better season than Anderson Phillip. He is not express paced so he is competing with bowlers of the same ilk.

Selected based on that improvement shown. You cannot teach pace. I guess there are saying. Let's see if he continues on this improvement.

This season 4-day regional was different in the sense.....First half of the tournament was played with Kookaburra balls and last leg with Duke.......the decision was reasonable..... As Indian and N.Z. both use Kookaburra balls....West Indies tour impending.....
First half saw, several big hundreds....all bowlers, including test bowlers faltered.....
This lad Tyson did well throughout.....both with Kookaburra and Duke.....so I assume he got maximum points.....got selected in all formats....
Cyrus....leg break with good googly....a rarity in Caribbean cricket....has taken 3- fifers......@27...but maybe because of his ability to bowl both leg break and googly...

Well looks like Sammy boy got an opportunity.. not a bad start to his WI A team career.. top figures this
6-0-61-0
Shannon 2.0... minus the pace. The struggle to reach to the bowling crease is the same though
