Cricket is cricket son. We’ve also seen great batsmen fail against second rated teams. You get runs whenever you get them and you’ll fail against whomever you’ll fail against.

Sounds like some Manchester reasoning to me.

Except that the days of Ireland being a second rated team and WI being a first rated team are long over. They have top 10 ODI batsmen in their team and they have won series against us in the West Indies and have done more than us in recent times in world cups. Ireland is currently as good as we are and I enjoy that we were competitive against them.

As much as I'd like to agree with you unfortunately I can't. Ireland have been a very poor ODI team for a while now.

You're probably right that Ireland are a poor ODI team. Unfortunately, so are the West Indies.

That's what made that series a competitive one. The West Indies are out of their depth against England. We need to play Ireland more often.

I was curious to see how they would perform against tougher competition. The early returns were not very positive. Let's see if we can put up a better performance tomorrow.
