King has parted ways with the decent technique he had to slog and yam-lick his way into T20 dollars. Once we can accept that, we can accept that this is the new King. I cannot say I am mad at him as a man must work to take care of self and family.

Lewis is suffering from the fact that he refuses to play regional FC cricket even when available. Therefore he comes into international cricket cold. Hopefully he will do better in England after a couple matches under his belt. King is playing out of place in ODI cricket. He does not have the goods to make proper use of the power play and just ends up as a hit or miss batsman.

Allyuh CONVENIENTLY ignoring the OBVIOUS

Our best opening batsman is Shai Hope

His record says so. OVERWHELMINGLY.

Yet.....since becoming captain....he ups and decides he batting at 4

King's best position in the order is 4

But he's sacrificed for Hope's convenience

Now allyuh want to hate on Brandon King.

All the time i thought that anywhere from #1 - 5 are prime batting positions and if you can bat you will definitely perform in any of those slots ....

When you compared his “decent technique” to “slogging” and “yam-lick”, you meant it as a compliment.

My bad.

Lewis and King just giving the rest of team an opportunity to score some runs, if they decided to hog all the runs as openers, which we all know on a good day, it’s tough for any bowler to take their respective wickets but where is the fun in that? So, just be happy for the other batsmen. big grin

It was not a compliment just a reality. Brandon King is the only batter I have ever backed in the Rum Shop so go somewhere else with the loosely used word "hating". I even referenced him as a "poor man's Kane Williamson" a few years ago. I guess that is "hating" as well. Brandon King has introduced cross-bating to his non-T20 arsenal and uses it with alacrity, it has infiltrated and compromised his technique in the longer versions of the game. If realistic criticism is hating. My bad.

Of course, must be the bajans' fault. Dont mind that if King was not opening he probably would not make the 11. King is very limited against spin bowling. There would surely be several other players that would be ahead of him in the pecking order as middle order options.

Yes, Hope on record is our best opening batsman in 50 over cricket, but he is on record also our best batsman. As both captain and keeper it seems malicious to suggest he is "sacrificing" a player for his "convenience" rather than trying to provide some stability to the line up.

But you got no shame, so carry on as per usual

I like Lewis, and I'm not ready to give up on him just yet. However, he's not a spring chicken, and for his benefit, he needs to start taking his cricket career more seriously.
While the CWI first-class matches were underway, Lewis was playing club cricket in Trinidad, where the standard is even lower than our first-class level.

I recall hearing a former selector say that they used to call and practically beg him to make himself available to play.

I took a well deserved break from the regional squabbling and it felt good. I guess we find our way back eventually.

Shai Hope started his career batting in the 4th position. Here.

Brandon King started batting in the 4th position in 2019. Here.

Hope did not up and decide to bat down since he became Captain.
The numbers suggest King has been better opening (25 inns, 112 HS, 35 Avg, 88 SR) vs 4th position (11 inns, 54 HS, 17 Avg, 65 SR)

I am not cut out for the back and forth so I will go back into retirement. I hope we beat ENG with whoever goes out there.

I am ok. Hope everything is good with you.

West Indies cricket is tiring. I do not expect us to dominate as we did 50 years ago but I would like to see us field competitive teams and continuity.

Carty is 28. Not old, not young.
Where are our exciting bowlers?

I would guess we need to do a better job as a region identifying, developing and funding young cricketers. Come together as a region.

Thank goodness for Fantasy League cricket.
