In reply to Chrissy
Why can't TT ever kill off a match 94th minute Penalty, they looked better in the second half than Yard, that wasn't bad,Yard is 25 places above TT and is always at a disadvantage against British Jamaicans. Both Jam and TT have bigger fish to fry so I don't think those players were putting in 100%.
I still doubt Yorke and Latapy are going to take us anywhere
1. Jamaica first half display, especially their transition to defense was admirable.
2. Again, the substitutions left me head scratching. Perhaps the coach is vetting the players.
GK : DAVIS (5.0) didn't inspire confidence throughout the game.
RB : LEMBIKISA (6.0) at the half he was my player of the game, his second half was atrocious.
CB : KING (8.0) in addition to his fortitude to step up and take the game-winning penalty, he was good throughout the game.
CB : HOLGATE (7) he was decent doing nothing outstanding.
LB : BELL (7) his defense splitting pass let Cephas loose for the game-winning penalty. Just the same, he gave T'dad attacker too much space on their first goal.
CM : PALMER (8.0) - his best game in a Jamaican shirt. He's still not my answer for creative midfield. He was also slow in coming back on T'dad's first goal. Cheeky penalty kick.
DM : HAYDEN (7.0) - when you don't remember your CDM in a game it means he did his job (a) break up attacks (b) clog the middle.
RM :RUSSELL (6.5) - worked well with his other midfielders and was quite hard working during his stint.
LW : CEPHAS (8.5) - he gets that score from me because he finally made a pass . He was a handful for the T'dad defense and his speed is an asset to the team.
F : BURRELL (8.0) was quite busy and made a decent pass in the first half. Scored a clever goal on debut.
RW : DIXON (6.0) - good effort on the right wing, his inexperience showed as the game went on. He's not the finished article but has industry.
SUBSTITUTES
LW : GREEN (-0) - I was shocked when he received his first national call-up and today confirmed that he should not even be allowed to buy a ticket to get into the stadium.
CM : MORRISON (7.0) - showed his usual poise, precision passing and "a my show dis show mi respek" aura.
LB : LEIGH (5.0) - I had no idea why he came on, since Bell remained on the field. He was adequate in his limited stay on the field.

Thanks…I haven’t watched the game but your summary is very helpful
In reply to granite
Yes they looked much better in the 2nd half
In reply to JoeGrine
A bit harsh on Russell and Dixon, but good analysis as per usual!
In reply to XDFIX
Russell, yes, Dixon, no. If we are truthful, he is just not ready as yet for this stage, however, he has promise. This was the #100 team and he was not a standout in the game.
In reply to JoeGrine
Thanks again for your evaluation. Have not seen game;truth is I did not even hear of it as
am busy with house keeping matters .
Most of these players are 'foreign' to me too. But good luck to the Coach and squad.
I have much confidence that Yorke will do well as coach and T&T will make strides
and surprise a lot of folks when WC qualification heats up.
In reply to hubert
Faloony posted a link.
In reply to hubert
T'dad played some good football and yes, they could surprise teams during the WC qualifiers.
In reply to FanAttick
Thanks.
In reply to JoeGrine
Yes, Trinidad is building and this is not their A team.
In reply to nitro
Who is using their A team in this thing?

What a sweet game of football! Very enjoyable to watch…mirror image of the T&T vs Reggae Boyz game in terms of being a tale of two halves
In reply to FanAttick
Yeah, was able to watch some of it. Good game, great advert for the Unity Cup.
What are your thoughts on the crowd support in the 2 matches?
In reply to nitro
The crowd support was very good…the fans turned out…
Reggaeboyz vs Nigeria,"kissing cousins" in de FINAL
In reply to Chrissy
Thanks Was able to watch and catch up .Some good football played.
Plan to watch the final and it should be another good game and from what I
saw, Nigeria looks the better team.
In reply to hubert
T&T off to a slow, sleepy start…trails 0-1 after 6 minutes
Ghana 2, T&T 0
12 minutes
In reply to FanAttick
I think both Caribbean teams will struggle today.
In reply to nitro
That’s a legit expectation..Hopefully Lord Ravel will make a difference
In reply to FanAttick
Yeah, I hope they start him.
In reply to FanAttick
Just woke up. Score not unexpected .
Oh heck it's now 3-0.
In reply to hubert
Indeed..T&T hasn’t turned up so far..hopefully they’ll step up in the 2nd half
Ghana 4, T&T 0
66 minutes
Ghana 4, T&T 0(FT)
Cardines was T&T’s best player against the Reggae Boyz..he hasn’t featured in this game. I wonder if he’s injured?
In reply to FanAttick
They tried but were outplayed in too many areas. Pity they couldn't get
a consolation goal tho.
In reply to hubert
Yes…Agreed…Good experience for the team…the result is not that important…Yorke is making a difference
Reggae Boyz will struggle likewise against Nigeria!
T&T was lucky to walk away with 4-0, it could have been an easy 7!
No embellishment needed for T&T goalie salad -it was wicked!
Boyz will have to toughen up and play a coarse and rough game to stand a chance of putting one pass the Nigerian goalkeeper!
In reply to XDFIX
It will be a real challenge for this Boyz team. Nigeria looks
well organized and skillful .But we shall see. Hopefully the
Boyz will not be overawed, ovoid a shut out and look to surprise
First item by Ghana cappo was a Socrates special. Ghana was in the mood all game.
Tv panel felt Caribbean teams weak and lower ranked debated on their presence in Unity Cup
Yorke was Scammyesque with Ghana's speed, passing, movement and shooting T&T didn't belong.
Surprise Jamaica ranked 13 spots above the Black Stars. Boys from Hearts of Oak look classy.
Tit bit.... T&T steel drums stop playing after Black Stars 3rd exocet
Enjoyable games nevertheless on to Yard v Super Eagles
In reply to FanAttick
Good experience for the Trini team and this is not their A team. I was not sold on Yorke at first but I think he is a good coach.
Nigeria 1, RB 0
10th minute
1-1
Dixon!!!!!!
Cephas is a baaaaaaadddd man!
In reply to FanAttick
Cephas' speed on any day will be a problem for any defence.
In reply to CWW
Richard King is a Rolls Royce of a defender
Lembikisa is having a torrid time
Nigeria 1, Jamaica 1 (HT)
In reply to FanAttick
Yes...Will be surprised if he is not subbed out for the 2nd half.
In reply to hubert
Yep. Lembikisa out, Ming in
Start of 2nd half
Nigeria 2, Jamaica 1
53rd minute..
Dixon mistake
Dixon is on a yellow card and should be subbed before he collects another costly one
In reply to FanAttick
Big time. Defence not well coordinated...just got a lesson from Nigeria's Central defender in
avoiding disaster in 1 v 1 situation in breakaway.
In reply to hubert
Goalll
2-2
Wonderful goal...perfect cross for Russell 2-2
In reply to hubert
Cephas again…wow
Sweet
2-2
In reply to FanAttick
Yes...Cephas is a gem with Speed
In reply to hubert
Sweet fi days
In reply to Chrissy
Sweet indeed
In reply to hubert
GK Davis does not inspire confidence
In reply to hubert
Nigeria’s “Shamar Nicholson” is threatening
Ravel on in place of Palmer
C'mon defence...tighten up..don't be caught square so deep in your PA.
In reply to hubert
Whatever happens the Reggae Boyz have acquitted themselves well
In reply to FanAttick
Yes..but Davis is a cardiac guy.
In reply to hubert
In reply to FanAttick
Boyz can steal this if they keep composure in the D and with swift counter attack.
In reply to hubert
This game deserves to go to penalties
In reply to hubert
Penalties
Penalty shoot out
In reply to Chrissy
Give the penalties to the Cavaliers players
In reply to FanAttick and Chrissy

In reply to Chrissy
Congratulations Nigeria
In reply to hubert
Well played to Jamaica…cant kill them for losing on penalties
In reply to Chrissy
Not to be..Nigeria win it but Boyz did well and much better than I
thought they would. The future does not look that bad with this new
coach.
Nice game. Congrats Africa
In reply to FanAttick
True thing. Lots to be pleased about.
In reply to hubert
We competed ! No shame in losing on a penalty shot .
Cephas and Dixon.
Local talent.
Ages 25 and 20 respectively.
Both played for Arnett Gardens.
Just saying.
In reply to FanAttick
That was much better than I thought. Great fight by the Boyz.
In reply to nitro
Cephas has done himself proud…he deserves an upgraded professional contract somewhere in Europe
In reply to JahJah
Are you going to mention "local talent" Atkinson who missed the penalty to give Nigeria the win?
We seriously need to grow up!
In reply to JoeGrine
Not sure why you are throwing a fit, because it wasn't even meant for you.
It was aimed at granite who keeps bringing up Jamaican Brits this and that.
What exactly are your personal issues? I'm unaware of them.
Jamaica played a decent game, however, there are glaring weaknesses which will be exploited by good teams. Nigeria saw in the T'dad game that our wing backs play compact relative to our center backs and attacked our flanks especially the right side of the defense.
My grades are based strictly on regulation play and not the penalty shoot-out.
GK : DAVIS (7) - had a rebound game and today showed in Blake's absence we can expect decent showing from the net minding position.
RB : LEMBIKISA (6) - was exploited by the Nigerians as he was the target of their first half attacks. He received little to no help from the right side of the Jamaican offensive outfit. More on that later.
CB : HOLGATE (7) - had perhaps his best game for Jamaica. He is a nice piece to have in reserve.
CB : KING (8.5) - simply outstanding. He has earned the right to partner Pinnock in central defense. He might just have also earned himself a contract out of Jamaica. His pass for Jamaica's first goal was a gem.
LB : BELL (7) - was not attacked as much with the right side being the Nigerian focus, plus, Cephas admirably came back to help. He yields too much space to attackers.
CDM : HAYDEN (8 ) - a general whose timely tackle and movement in space foiled many attacks down the middle.
CAM : PALMER (6) - made three (yes I counted them) fine passes. Beyond that he (a) seldom tackles (b) has no spatial awareness (c ) backs off when "defending" giving Nigeria acres of space to mount their attacks; by the way he backs-off not to tackle he does it just to do it. HE IS A LIABILITY!
M : RUSSELL (7) - positioned well to score our second equalizer. A bit too clumsy for my liking, however, he gives effort.
RW : DIXON (6.5) - talent, however, he is just not ready at this level and need to spend time in the gym/kitchen. He was of no value to Lembikisa in defense. Scored a timely goal to keep the game in the balance.
F : BURRELL (6.5) - a much more difficult game for him as he sniffed no chances, however, he showed industry during his stay on the field.
LW : CEPHAS (8.5) - a Nigerian nightmare who was involved in both goals. Gray cannot start over this player who may have played his way into a better European league.
SUBSTITUTIONS
RB : MING (6.5) - Must learn to release the forwards when the opportunity present itself. Just the same, he held up well in his major international debut. He deserves a stay on the national team.
RW : MOTHERSILL - hard to grade when he was not a part of the action. Wish he had more time on the field.
F : ATKINSON (6.5) - was most effective in defense, in fact he helped Ming much better than Dixon did for Lembikisa.
CAM: MORRISON - hard to grade when he was not on the field for long. Just the same, his generalship was on display.
F : BROWN - hard to grade when he was not on the field for long.
In reply to JahJah
Here I discuss sporting issues not personal issues.
In reply to JoeGrine
Not based on that reply!
If you want to throw fit over the merits of local vs foreign talent, take it up with those you have been fighting with on that.
I am one of those who has always said to pick the best players regardless of where they were born and grew up.
In reply to cricketmad
Agree- came from behind
In reply to JahJah
Boss, never intended to personally attack you.
Your post didn't show a reply so I interpreted it as a general statement.
Apologies if you felt offended.
In reply to JoeGrine
Fair assessment overall ..however you were a bit generous with your praise for Davis as I thought he didn’t inspire confidence and was very uncertain…the rest of the ratings were spot on…
I think Dixon was a bit rash and seems to have been at fault for the 2nd goal by trying to dribble and losing possession in the defensive third ..a costly mistake..
He does have talent but needs more time to develop…he made some good passes early in the game which shows he’s slowly learning…
Cephas was my MOM and gave the scouts something to think about
Best game from Jamaica in a long time. Fluent and attacking.
Team did not miss Leon Bailey.
The left winger Cephas (?) is a live wire (is he a UB40 ?). He gave the Super Eagles hell with pace and skill. He was Yardies MVP by a long way.
Exciting and enjoyable game of footie.
In reply to Castled
Why UB40 and not Steel Pulse or Aswad?
In reply to nitro
Ask JahJah thats where I and I first saw it
In reply to FanAttick
Sometimes yuh win with penalties and then sometimes yuh lose.
In reply to JoeGrine
Excellent as always - Dixon should have been taken off at the end of the first half! Morrison should have been given a longer run!
In reply to granite
Indeed
Cephas had a hand in 4 of the five goals we scored in the tournament. With his speed I hope he works on his game; finding the open man while he is flying by defenders, know when to pass and when to hold the ball, and he will be one hell of a player.
In reply to CWW
Agreed
In reply to JahJah
How many times have I talked about the Jamaican Brits,at most twice, and when I do I don't mean to diminish Jamaica's good results, get it right.Jamaica is not the only country who are using their overseas born players, when it first started I didn't like it because of what it did to the local players, now though,it is acceptable.Back to the Unity Cup and the best team Jamaica was unlucky come second,as for TT,I don't think Yorke should have tried a new midfield and a complete new defence with also a new GK.I see Jamaica becoming a powerhouse in CONCACAF in the not to distant future,in case you are not aware,I think the population of Jamaicans in the UK is about 1 million.
