Just like your shirt tends to get caught on the handle of a door when you’re late and rushing, you attract unplayable deliveries when you’re out of form

a few years ago West Indies took a young team to Asia. I said then that King, Hetmyer and Pooran can be better than Gayle, Sarwan and Samuels. Two went the IPL road and King is yet to get near to the top of his game. He doesn't seem to have the extra drive. I can be wrong.

iI'm not sure we will be seeing hetmeyer in the ipl next year, at least with rajasthan. and its not entirely his fault but the owners will probably clean house after a cellar finish this year

You missed the obvious. Sarwan had a flawless technique and a young Samuel's could flat out bat. King is in the mold of a Xavier Marshall, lovely cricket shots but deficient in technique. On flat pitches where the ball is not doing anything he can have his moments.

it can. but somebody needs to show you. Steve Waugh was a bad batsman when he started. in fact he was more a vooper and had Australia not been in dire, DIRE straights in the late 80s, he wouldn't have been given as much room as he was initially given. We all remember that steve took close to four years to score his first hundred. that his reinesssance took place under the stern gaze of Bobby Simpson is not a coincidence. We have no person like simpson anywhere near the coaching set up right now...we do have a sammy and a reifer though

with top coaching and/or high level player dedication, I thought King could at least be as consistent as Gayle. Hetmyer was the best ODI player West Indies debuted for years. He could pick up twos and threes at will. He then figured out the shortest route to a big bank account was to hit a long ball over cow corner which he did well enough to get into the IPL.. Pooran had a chance to be anything he wanted then. None of those choices and roads traveled favored West Indies ODI cricket.

Gayle was a batsman with several technical chinks, but he had several things thing these guys don't have....superb hand eye coordination, belly and drive. gayle as well didn't play in a side that lost this much. yes we lost to the top dogs like australia and SA but we also won against some very good sides(beat pakistan at home in 2000, beat india in 2002, beat sri lanka in 2003, won the champions trophy in 2004 and reached the final of that tournament in 2006). this side has not had 1/12th of that sort of success against full strength teams and that must have a demoralizing effect. Which is why i emphasize strengthening the structures around the team which are fully in our control

So King could only score runs when he faces "bad" balls eh?

It might be time for King to return to the middle order, he is having a hard time with the swing of the new ball

Players, who thinks that by playing only T-20, they can excel in other formats.... are foolish.....King has for last 3 years, playing T-20 around the world.... very good and commendable....earn money look after self and family...but these players will more often than not fail in other formats....King is all formats multi-year contracted player.....King should seriously introspect.....In all 4 innings.... couple of cover drive then King feet got frozen....

trump, ravi and bravo are two time world cup champions. and unlike jason....they actually played matches during their wins. none of the people in this team have even played in an international semi final

On that note, a swap of Hope and King may solve a problem.
