Why did we come into the England series

imusic 2025-05-29 17:52:48

With no warm up?

Everybody knows the team needs at least 1 proper warm up match before every series.

We’ll do much better in the 2nd ODI

Hopefully CWI takes note of this important aspect of our preparation cool

Hopefully CWI takes note of this important aspect of our preparation

this is a repeat of what took place last year in the test series...sent a developmental team to ireland while the majority of the test squad was NOT in the wt20, arrived 2-3 weeks before the series, played a useless warmup against part time opposition and were mauled

The thread is sarcastic. We're missing 2 players from the originally selected squad. So it's not like we're missing a ton of experienced players.

We always make excuses for starting series slowly by saying we not prepared.

Well...we had 3 preparation matches. I can't say with certainty why we performed the way we did today, but l CAN say lack of preparation is NOT the the reason.

We need to come up with another excuse.

despite the sarcasm, West Indies first game is often below par. Rutherford is our best ODI player, so that is a major miss.

Rutherford is our best ODI player, so that is a major miss.

So Shai Hope is what then?

WI fans so damned fickle

Coaches too.

Shai Hope has played 49 ODI's as an opener for WI.

He averages 60.74 with 11 centuries and 11 50's as an opener in ODI's for WI

His overall average in ODI's is 49.50

So we already have a VERY successful opening batsman in ODI cricket.

Of the 49 ODI's Hope has played as an opener, WI have won 20 of those matches for a winning percentage of 41%

Hope has played a total of 137 ODI's, and in the 88 ODI's he has NOT played as an opener, WI has won 30 of those matches for a winning percentage of 34%

Yet we decide to drop him down the order

Good points. Doesn't Hope prefer to bat at 4 when he keeps.

Rutherford averages 71 with a SR of 111. I think he has began to eclipse Hope as our best player.

Ireland series was enough warmup. We are bad starters as we started badly there too. Let us recharge and retool for the next game.

Hope's runs should not be talked about unless the manner (sr especially) in which and against who they are made is also considered.

We’ve won 20 of the 49 matches (41%) when he opened.

He scored 11 centuries and 11 50’s in those 49 matches.

Unless you suggesting his strike rate caused the team to lose the other 29
