That is part of the reason the other part is some quizzical captaincy decisions by Hope and Aljo must be given the new ball!

Correct. Stop the damn playing around. Joseph is our wicket and most experienced bowler. Give that man the new ball with the wind behind him.

I got news for you, we are not going to win many games if Hope continues to captain like this. We need a captain that can think out of the box. He was also mainly responsible for us not batting 50 overs. He should have start looking for twos instead of trying to hit everything for 6.

Yeah, maybe about 30 runs short.

We also lost the game because we do not have a proper spinner. Motie seems to have lost his way. Maybe give Shemar his place and let Chase do the spinning. Or keep Motie as a finisher and drop Hetty for Shemar.

Jewel was a walking wicket opening thats why we did not bat out the 50, he should have come 5/6

Was it Hope's decision to bat Andrew #1? The coach said they needed a fast start and sent an 18year old to open the innings.

Phil Simmons did the same to Shai Hope at the start of his test career

The same was done to Daren Ganga at the start of his. Don’t remember who the coach was at the time. But I believe Ganga’s test debut came against Alan Donald and a rampaging South African attack in South Africa.

And yes, there have been successes doing that. Chris Gayle was a hard hitting middle order bat who converted to opening the batting. He turned out to be a West Indian great.

Neither Hope nor Ganga were opening batsmen. Both were middle order batsmen 3-5 in the order) But it was the only way to get into the WI team so they took it. Ultimately to the detriment of their respective test careers.

I remember Simmons’ rationale for Hope opening was “if you can bat you can bat. It doesn’t matter where in the order you bat”.

We lost the game because of some deadweights:
Hety
Motie
Chase,
and the inability to bat for a full 50 overs.
No one after Hope and Carty, thought it was necessary to build an innings.

Chase's captaincy in test will be short-lived if he does not produce with both bat and ball.

People, please stop your emotional outburst.

Windies lost because they are a second rate team,
playing against one of the best in modern times.

Yes Ganga, Gayle, Hope, were middle order batsmen forced in opening sport.

So was Leon Johnson.
So was Adrian Griffith.
What the hell is that to do with today's loss.
stop typing off emotions.

Windies lost first and foremost because they are outclass in this series.
Even with Jofra Archer, Overton, & Woods, missing, we are outclass.

Where is Hosein
Where is Lewis
Where is Pooran,
Where is Holder
Where is Shepherd and Rutherford.

Who here honestly expected Windies to win any games in the series?

of course we could have won, but;

1. Hope opened with Andrew, a newbie

2. Hope batted so slowly

3. Hope got out with a few overs to spare

4. Hope didnt open bowling with AlJo

5, Hope dropped a crucial catch

6. Hope didnt use Motie at the right moment upsetting his rhythm

7. Hope overbowled Chase and Forde

8. Hope didnt set the exact field for each bowler

9.Hope didnt use the reviews correctly

10. Hope didnt let AlJo bowl out his full overs when he had Eng skipping

11. Hope didnt let Motie bowl his full quota of overs further messing with Motie's head

12. Hope didnt bat Hetty up the order demoralising the best bastman in the team

13. Hope didnt get his cereal this morning

We lost this game because…….even when England were horrendous in the field….they still were able to beat us on a day when WE DIDN’T TOTALLY SUCK.

I shudder to think what out total would have been had England taken any of their chances against King and Carty.

Kudos to them both. They rode their good fortune well and played important knocks.

We also had our share of misfortune. Match winner Joe Root could easily have been adjudged LBW against Matthew Forde but instead got a reprieve when DRS said “umpires call”

Crucial point was Motie not coming in and bowling a good spell. That changed the balance of the game drastically if not almost irreversibly.
Except that Sudden is right about everything as usual especially the cereal
