Eighteen-year-old Antiguan and Leeward Islands cricketer Jewel Andrew is currently the best batter in the Caribbean.

This is the opinion of West Indies fast bowler and fellow Antiguan, Alzarri Joseph, who gave his assessment of the young batting prodigy while speaking on the Good Morning Jojo sports show

“In my opinion, I think he is the best batter in the Caribbean at the moment. I don’t think there are much people that have the ability to bat like he does,” he said. “He just scores so freely, he never looks in trouble

“For me, I think he’s pretty much the best batter we have in the Caribbean
lol

Not Hope, Carty, Rutherford, King, pooran ?

If Joseph said that I think he is very bias and one sided and really off track. Not because a guy is from your neck of the woods it doesn't mean that you have to lie for him Joseph knows he is telling lies and he is just putting pressure on the young guy . What a shame !

And we are entitled to judge his opinion as most asinine and worthy of either a very stupid or very insular man

You provided excerpts of a quote which you did not write yourself. You could simply provide the source of the excerpts. In addition you did not even have the genuineness to provide the full excerpts of the interview to get a better context. Quit being a jackass if you are capable of such.

Oh btw Aljo is basing this on talent/skill based on his personal experience of bowling to him and his observation and he was more speaking to his potential but had you quoted the full excerpt, then you would see it was not about his personal achievements or performances but about his potential:

“In my opinion, I think he is the best batter in the Caribbean at the moment. I don’t think there are much people that have the ability to bat like he does,” he said. “He just scores so freely, he never looks in trouble and I enjoy bowling to him in the nets because I get to rile him up a bit because he finds it very difficult to score against me but he gets it off with the other bowlers.

“For me, I think he’s pretty much the best batter we have in the Caribbean, so it’s about nurturing that talent and not allowing it to go down the drain or allowing time to go past and he don’t really fulfill his potential.”

Quote the full context so we can properly understand.

Allyuh too disingenuous

VOR's "full text shows even weirder from Aljo. The youth have difficulty batting him but is best in The Caribbean? Haven't many players beat Joseph to pulp in regionals?

There is an obvious reason why CASTLED left out the last part about his talent being nurtured! This suggests that ALJO was rating him based on his potential! Fidel Edwards was once pulled from obscurity in the nets by Lara based on what???

Any batsman can take any bowler to the cleaners in any form of cricket. Can they do so consistently is another story. Kieran Powell is on record saying that Jewel vs Aljo is boz office in the nets.

Alzarri Joseph now 9th on the all time list for WI ODI bowlers and based on his S/R he will pass Walsh in less matches.

The correction was in giving us the source so I can read the article for myself.

I still say the Aljo is entitled to his opinion.
His opinion is like anyone's value-based.
In other words, it is biased, like all of us.
I disagree with Aljo, but it's Aljo's opinion.

I believe that Hope is the best batsman in the Caribbean, closely followed by Pooran.
But, that's my opinion and I' sure that many would disagree.
Many would rank Pooran first and Hope second. I cannot argue with them.

Jewel needs to learn to build an inning.
Jewel needs to learn to play with soft hands.
Jewel needs to learn to keep low when playing most of his shots,
as he is too upright when making contact.
The better players keep low and break their wrists, which Jewel lacks at times.
Jewel needs to stop playing so many shots while on the move.
Jewel has many technical flaws, which he should work out with time and experience.
He has the potential to be one of the best, if not the best in the Windies.
But..He is not there yet.
I do know a thing or two about the technical side of batting.
