He is picked as a bowler yet he is the 6th option and bowls only 5 overs. Last game it was 7 overs. Next game it would be 4 overs.

It feels like a quota thing sometimes.

Hope is treating Motie like how Holder uses to treat Bishoo. like a part-time bowler. IMO it is not good strategy, although Motie is not taking wickets, he is still relatively economical, so why not bowl him instead of Forde?

The end of Motie is near

Not any time soon

He has an all format, multi year contract with CWI that expires in October 2026 I believe.

I have had this question too. Forde was being murdered in both matches and Hope bowled him nonetheless. Not imagination in the captaincy at times.

But you have to hide Motie. He cannot bowl to left hand batters. He is a limited cricketer and Bethell was waiting for Hope to bring him on
.

Teams have specific roles for specific players

Teams today would also have specific strategy for specific situations.

Who would bowl in the power play

Who bowls the middle overs

Who bowls at the death etc

It is likely that team management including the skipper decided that the death overs would be bowled by a combination of AlJo, Seales, and Forde.

IF there’s any truth to the rumor that Rovman Powell was fired as captain because he is an instinctive captain versus a data driven captain, it would then be a reasonable assumption that Shai Hope is more amenable to data driven decision making.

In that case, persisting with a specific plan in that scenario would make sense…..especially if no deviation to the plan came from the team think tank during the match.

Did you watch the game. Motie was bowling poorly and did not look remotely threatening. Forde bowled poorly too but he at least posed a wicket taking threat. They both should be dropped for the next game but i would not write off either. Forde is still developing and is a more than capable bat and Motie at his best is a far cry from what we have been seeing over the last year. His confidence will come back

This would mean that Hope is a robot. At least a part of the game is played on the field. There are things that a captain might pick up on in the moment that planning/data might not account for. I am all for data driven, but there will always be a place for common sense and situational awareness...
