I predict Campbell and King Test Openers for Australia

Not that they willingly want Yardie openers but based on the experience of the last pair to open for WI against Australia, Captain Braithwaite and Chanderpaul both averaged under 10 runs, during that series. So, opening the batting against those very fast, powerful and dominating Australian opening bowlers is considered as test career- ending positions.
However, I am hopeful that if selected they will be able to weather the storm. We are Yardies, we overcome difficulties, during colonial era we even beat the British army and forced them into a treaty, they should be psychologically prepared for Australia, if selected for that duty. Just saying big grinbig grin

Are you remotely surprised by his choice ? Don't be surprised if Blackwood comes in for Chase as Skipper.

No but notwithstanding Carty’s poor test cricket record, he has been batting well in ODI, hopefully that will spill over into his test performance. So, I would recommend Carty to bat in 3rd position, certainly a better option than Greaves.

I have no problem with king in the test side he certainly cant be worse than what we have but i would have him at 3 if he was to play

Good choices!

Just need Kirk McKenzie for the #3 spot...

Blackwood and Bonner for #4 and 5 too.

All now OZ bowlers panicking.. plenty licks when they run in to bowl to those superstars.

You ain’t see panic yet until the Aussie batsmen have to contemplate the prospect of having to face Oshane and Mindley! cool

Ok let’s go there! Name two alternate openers that you would consider to open for West Indies against Australia? I am talking about legitimate openers not makeshift openers.

Ok but do not detract from the original premise, tell us your two alternate openers to face Australia.

In the last 8 or so ODI's King has only got to double figures because of dropped catches. Aussies have safer hands and tests have wider, more packed cordon. He'll need all the luck.....

When posting this, it had not occurred to me that you guys in reality would have had difficulties in naming alternate openers to Campbell and King. This is not a planned entrapment but despite the jokes and wisecracks, I shudder to think that there are no real alternate Openers to face Australia. big grin

My friend, Campbell was not on the team against Australia, remember that he was still serving his suspension, get your facts right!
